Keep Fishkill, NY Beautiful

Keep Fishkill, NY Beautiful

Target:
To: Joan A. Pagones, Supervisor - Fishkill, New York

This is a petition to stop the development of Fishkill Manor Estates. Two hundred apartments and townhomes are proposed to be constructed on the Yellen property that lies along Jackson Street, Baxtertown Road and Wheaton Avenue in Fishkill, NY.

This development will bring hundreds of cars onto our already over-busy streets, will wreak havoc on home values, and will place additional stress on a very fragile wetlands ecosystem potentially causing even more runoff onto properties located close to this area. Most importantly, these buildings will permanently alter the character of our beautiful town, and this cannot be allowed to happen.

Please sign your name to support the blocking of this proposal and its development.

Sincerely,
(The Undersigned)

As a unit owner in a nearby complex-we do not need the additional traffic, congestion, potential for increased crime rates, etc. There is no reason to develop every piece of open land especially when already developed units are not renting or selling!

An increase of 200 units will also strain our already fragile water supply. The Toll Brothers development at Merritt Park is evidence that our water supply cannot support such dense development.

Since reading the article about the Revolutionary War Cemetery, that would be compromised if the development is to be built, I am in full support of blocking the proposal for development. My relatives came from Dutchess County before the Revolution. It would be sad to see such an important piece of history disappear being replaced by townhouses. It is too bad that the state of NY hasn't passed a law to protect old burial sites from this kind of desecration.

As a resident of Dutchess County for over 20 years, I have seen the effects of overdevelopment. It would behoove Supervisor Pagones to review other housing alternatives (such as existing condominium/townhouse sites) for the continued influx of commuters moving up from the more expensive counties south of Dutchess County. The village of Fishkill simply can't accommodate the pending increase in traffic should the Fishkill Manor Estates project move forward, nor can the environment afford further destruction to its already delicate ecosystem.

We already have too much development in Fishkill. This will impact even the safety in our town. Please keep us informed.

enough is enough, there is more then enough housing in fishkill no more is needed. no more traffic is needed. Just to get thru Fishkill at rush hour takes 30 mins. Route 9D cannot handle the extra traffic and travelers use Baxtertown as a cut thru which has already crated more traffic. Fishkill is great leave it alone. Buy the old Mid-Hudson medical group building on the corner, gut it and rent it out. Will create foot traffic for local businesses and no trees and wildlife will be effected

Why would there be new construction in this economic climate?

We already have enough new construction - some of which are not sold. Why do we need more?

What benefit can this project bring to local residents? Traffic along Baxertown,Osborne Hill, Jackson, Wheaton and route 52 haven't become bad enough? Now this would add another 400 cars to travel these roads each day! Property taxes effected by the need for increased services to the 400+ new residents. 200 units will bring how many new students into our already costly school system. Aren't our school taxes high enough? And with the decline in property values, you can't sell your home now or rent your property, how will adding more inventory help? Or how will this congestion increase your property's value? Not every piece of vacant land needs to be developed with multi-unit or cluster housing. Please take the time to contact the elected officials in the Town and Village and ask them to explain how this is in the best interests of the area residents.

I have lived here for 36 years and I have seen a tremendous increase in traffic. I would really hope that our Supervisor and Town Board will do the right thing for our community.

As a person who has lived in this area all my life I hate what this area has become. With all the developement that has been allowed the country side that I once loved is now gone. If I wanted to live in the city I would have moved there. Stop all this development, we have enough.

Our town is already overdeveloped with little regard to the environment or respect for open space.
# 51:

Traffic overloaded, schools overcrowded, infastructures saturated, open space planning non-existent Does anyone in Town Hall look around at the community or do they even care about what over-development has done to this one charming town.
