Gas prices affect all of us. A server in a local restaurant is losing money and work as more people are staying home. A hotel employee notices more and more empty beds, and wonders about her job. A truck driver takes on more and more work, staying away from home longer, to make the same money he made just 13 months ago. Workers are turning to alternatives to get to work, wondering how they are going to survive the coming winter as the fuel prices effect utilities too. Why aren't we shouting in the streets?

My family was getting together this summer as a camping reunion. Because of GAS PRICES we are not doing it. It would cost us over $600 in gas alone!!

Instead of rhetoric and standing around scratching heads there needs to be some decisive action taken. I work 25 miles from home and only driving back and forth to work I am spending over $350 per month. I haven't even looked into what it is going to cost to fill my propane tank before next winter--it looks like the beginning of a long cold winter.

I am outraged at how expensive gasoline and diesel fuel has become, and how it has become a domino effect driving up prices for all things we so depend on and do not take for granted - all the while a few selfish and very self-centred profit. Something needs to be done ASAP!!!! We need to clamp down on the trading practices and greedy speculation that has helped drive up oil prices, bolster the US dollar to deter overseas greedy and selfish speculation, and demand cars and trucks with excellent fuel economy - especially hybrids.

Increases in gas is now and will continue to affect the quality of our lives. Its already causing a domino effect of higher prices of everything we buy and everything we do or don't do as a result. This will continue unless our government steps in and represents the people not the "special interest" people as they swore to do when elected.

I think a good portion of our people are about stretched out as far as they can go.. and it is looking like this is just the tip of the iceburg. We NEED alternative energy to run our cars. We NEED to WAKE UP, and do what needs to be done! Oil WILL run out at some point... do we wait for that to happen... wait until we are all so heavily burdened by what we have to spend in our gas stations? Do we wait until we have lost our national wildlife refuges, for oil that will barely make a dent in what we burn and is a limited supply? Do we keep this up until our environment is too far gone from polution? Or do we START NOW to change our dependence on oil? Come on.. Make our children proud of us! We owe it to them!

I have a petition at the Link below if any one would like to sign thank you. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/more-and-better-bike-lanes With proper raised bike lanes it would be safer and cheaper to travel. No gas no polution. These lanes could allso be used by electric scooters, wheelchairs, etc. Chum
