Let my mom keep her store!

My mother owns a local dance wear shop in Princeton, NJ called Giselle
and it is her passion and livelihood. She recently decided to move her
business to Kingston, NJ for a variety of reasons, including the
lowered cost of maintaining her business. The property she bought was
residential so she waited until she was able to get the city to rezone
it for business before moving, and then closed her store and
relocated.

However, the Kingston Historical Society (known as the Kingston Initiative) has stepped in and pressured the local government into retroactively revoking the zoning, which makes it impossible for her to run her business. The Kingston Initiative has no valid reason for opposing the opening of a
Dancewear store, and this is clearly part of a general attempt to
prevent Kingston from seeing any progress, as they have already
interfered in the establishment of many wonderful businesses
attempting to open in the area, such as Eno Terro. The people of
Kingston are in favor of businesses like Giselle, and are not being
represented by this society, which is egregiously overstepping its
authority, and has been for some time.

Please sign this petition to let them know that my mom should be able
to open her store. It's an important part of her life, a necessary
means for her to be able to support herself, and a benefit to the city
of Kingston at large. If you're at all familiar with the situation
you'll agree that it's high time the honest people trying to make
their living in Kingston need to be heard, and not just the entrenched
interests of the noisy few.

Put an end to this abuse of power and help keep Giselle alive!
