We The Undersigned believe that pot should stay illegal, keep it away from america's kids. When kids are in their teenage years, they can't make these kind of decisions, even with a high level of pot smoking teenagers, this would increase it by soo much. KEEP IT ILLEGAL AND KEEP YOURSELF DRUG FREE!Thanks!    ~Dan and Ashley      Daptay Anti-Drug Administration      daptay@live.com

Family values are helped by imprisoning people to help bankers and doctors screw the people of the USA. You morons are helping destroy freedom. These laws are made to help destroy real families and and for what? Wraiths and specters called society, and god and country-while those in poower are all drug smugglers and murderers. Mena, Arkansas is where the democrats are smuggling cocaine; and through our border with Mexico is where the GOP is smuggling heroin. Google Bush and Heroin and read about Bo Gritz who was prosecuted when he tried to tell on some heroin smugglers who had protectioin of the govt

If Marijuana was Legal, Countless More Would be Imprisoned Ever since I can remember, my father has conversed with me as if I were an adult. Many nights we’ve spent arguing the opposing angles of various issues to the extent that we’ve naturally developed opposing schemas of the world. Since my high school has no debate team (only a discussion team where one is penalized for “debating” tactics), I’ve continued to use my home as my debating outlet. Though my conflicting viewpoints have disposed some extra and rather underserved stress on my father, having to defend my principles on a regular basis has given me a confident grasp of my beliefs. But, I became so complacent with my values that at times I’d rather take an obviously flawed position (thereby inviting anyone who would dare to challenge me in a battle of wits) than argue with compassion. In my schema, people existed for the soul purpose of quenching my thirst for intellectual domination. Thus, I’d toy with the minds of others in most discussions. Such could be said of any topic except for one - the legalization of marijuana. The fall days of my junior year were the best days of my life. I had a great girl, loads of friends, and a stable and happy family atmosphere (this included debating my father). My grades were perfect; I was strong and healthy. Life was to be savored to the last minute. That winter things turned for the worse pronto. It started when my father took up the stressful ordeal of beginning a new job. Our debates soon lost the good natured undertone that made them fierce yet rarely bitter. They escalated into verbal brawls where the loser would withhold hard feelings. But, the stress of his new job became a mere fraction of his unease when my brother, a year my elder, began to use marijuana. His habit began with honest social intent but soon manifest itself into a full-fledged addiction. His bleak expression beamed only in the fleeting euphoria pot could provide. Between fixes he lacked the resolve to accomplish anything or please anyone. He neglected his school work. He delved into the money he had spent years saving to feed his addiction. When his bank account ran dry, he went over $600 in debt and stole $500 of my money by impersonating me at the bank. He too became complacent. He made no attempt to hide his habit. Many nights he would wander home high to the wrath of my father. This strained their relationship and stuck a knife between my parents. When they too began to argue, their pained voices took me back to the many foolish nights I spend at odds with my luckless father. Haunted by my egotistical nature, I’d stay awake all night mulling over what I’d been doing with my life; how none of my valued achievements in mere bickering had made it any better. To find relief from my temperament I chose to become disconnected with all forms of human contact. Many nights I’d find myself driving deep into the countryside to be alone. My girlfriend, however, witnessed the odd change in me, but since I wasn’t voicing my troubles, she dumped me finding me no longer pleasant or fun to be around. I was devastated. Days became blurred. My friends took notice as the familiar, outspoken rascal morphed into a downtrodden, sullen loner. Upon their urging, I visited my doctor where I was diagnosed with dysthymia- a chronic depressive condition characterized by lack of sleep and appetite. A few weeks later, I fell ill. For eight days, I lay confined to my bed lacking the resolve to satisfy even my most basic needs. I even lost the will to eat and dropped 15 pounds during that week. I was a mere shadow of the strong, confident youth I had been. When I returned to school, I was greeted by the tender concern of my peers. Everyone seemed to have a grave interest in my well-being. I was baffled. The sheer notion that others would trouble themselves for my betterment annihilated my whole egotistical scheme of life. My revised schema centered on the human connection. For instance, in the past I regarded school as a place where students fill their minds with useless facts and formulas that have no apparent relevance outside the realm of academia. Now, however, I realize that school is more than just a collection of lessons and exams; it’s a family where the people you meet have more to offer you than any book could ever provide. Toward the end of the school year, a debate over the legalization of marijuana was held in health class. Nearly the entire class was in favor of its legalization. I stood alone with only my hard won wisdom by my side. In rejecting what could be seen as an encroachment upon their freedoms, my opponents reasoned that what one puts into his/her body should be up to the individual. However, I learned that addiction destroys freedom. It isn’t about what you should or shouldn’t do to yourself or even your right to do it. It’s about what you do to others-others that care about you and can’t bear it when you give your life to an unhealthy obsession. I told the class the story above. I reasoned with compassion; with an understanding that dove deeper than logic and unofficially won the debate. The path of destruction caused by addiction to marijuana extends far beyond the person with the problem. It reaches his/her family and friends. The affects of my brother’s addiction to marijuana led me down a path where I found myself in a state similar to his own. If the United States legalized marijuana, nobody would be free.

I can see how those who are unfamiliar with the medicinal uses of marijuana might want it to be illegal across the board. However, at present, people who are ill with cancer or AIDS are being arrested for marijuana use, even in the 12 states that have legalized its medical use. Marijuana helps with nausea, loss of appetite, and glaucoma. Would I want school-children to have free access to it? No. (Alcohol is legal, with restrictions for minors). Do I suggest getting high and operating a motor vehicle? Absolutely not. (Alcohol is legal for adults, except when driving a motor vehicle). There are legal restrictions that could be put into place to allow for the medical use of marijuana).
