Lift the bans on gay marriage!

Target:
US Government
Sponsored by:
Like in the 1960s we are again facing a civil rights crisis in this country. A crisis that bans two consenting adults to get married and have all of the benefits and rights that come with it. These are benefits that some people take for granted, like the right to adopt, or even be in the same room with an ailing loved one, or the right to leave a loved one something in a final will and testament. By denying people this right we are treating them as second class citizens. No one in this day should be treated any lower than anyone else. Just recently we elected America's first African American president proving just how far this country has come. So now let's step up and say "NO! I will not take someone being treated as a second class citizen in this country." Please let's stand together and say enough is enough! Separate but equal will no longer be tolerated. Let gay/lesbian couples get married and have the exact same rights as everyone else in this country. Let's make sure never again will someone be pushed to the back of the bus.

We the undersigned, request that you overturn the ban on gay marriages in the United States of America.

absolutely - gay people should be able to marry, like anyone else - it is natural, to fancy another man - being gay is great!

Discrimination against the LGBT community NEEDS to end! If we still want to consider this country the "land of the free," then we need to stop denying millions of gay men & women their basic human rights. If two consenting adults truly love each other & want to get married, why should anyone stop them? Love is love!

I, as a member of the gay community, will never feel that I am in a country that is truly devoid of discrimination until I can recieve the right to be legally married to the person I love. This is a civil right, and to deny it based upon sexual orientation is against every founding principal of this state.

I believe two unrelated, consenting adults have the right to love and marriage no matter their gender. I am heterosexual, and have enjoyed 30 years of marriage to the man I love, why would we deny this same right to anyone, because of who they choose to love.

We've got to eliminate Hate of the GLBT Community, and this is a wonderful way to get everyone more aware of the fact that we need everyone's help.. We will get everyone to grow up and stop Hating. I will be working until I die to do this. They say they are not Homophobic but they are worse, they are Big Homophobes and they're encouraging too many others to also be that way.. Who do they think they are "Jesus". Poor Jesus, He's flipping in his grave. Separate but equal will no longer be tolerated.

because we have the right to choose. it is our life and as long as we r not hurting anyone or commiting a crime people need to leave us the f#%k alone. kinda like bi-racial couples use to it was illegal for white to marry black but now its ok so let people be who they r it is a free country

In my opinion we are all human beings no matter how different we are from each other. some of us are not willing to conform to what other say is how we should be. We always hear growing up the the U.S. is the land of the free the home of the brave so on and so on. But in reality its not. How hard is it to treat the gays in this nation the same as anyone else? I mean come on is this highschool all over again? Give us the rights we deserve. The rights we are entitled to as americans. We deserve a chance at having a family aswell. I dont understand how hard it is to understand we are just like anyone else in this world. We want to be successful in life. We long for what everyone else longs for. We are not animals or aliens. We are people who deserve to be treated just as equal as anyone else in this nation. Maybe you will eventually see that for yourself. This is only my opinion and how i feel. I hope one day i will have the same rights my parents taught me id have as a straight woman. Being gay is a very small part of me. I am a human being, i am a woman, i am a daughter, a sister, a friend, i am all the things you are or anyone else is and i feel the same as anyone else. I know my words may not change anyones mind. But maybe they will. Give us human beings the right to be just that. thank you for your time

I believe that EVERYONE has a fundamental right to live their lives loving whoever they chose to love and marrying whoever they chose to marry. Allowing gay marriage doesn't affect society negatively in any way. Let people live their lives without unfair restrictions.

Marriage is about a union between the people you love, regardless of who you love. The US Constitution guarantees "the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." If uniting with your loved one isn't happiness, I don't know what is and I'm clearly in the wrong country.

The civil rights movement didn't end in the 60's! The supreme court decided that separate is NOT equal with Brown vs Board of Education and that is still true. Lets not wait until a case makes it to supreme court, lets legalize same sex marriage now!
