PUT A PRICE CAP ON OIL / GAS ! ! !

Target:
ANYONE WILLING TO SIGN
Sponsored by:

This petition is going to be sent to all of the US Representatives and US Senators that represent the people signing this petition.  We need to do something about these gas prices.  They are averaging (as of 4/25/2008) $3.60 a gallon.  The price is over $4.00 in some parts of the country!  I'm not going to sit here and say that we need to boycott stations or companies.  That will not work.  However, the US Congress has the power to pretty much do whatever they want.  We need to tell them that they need to put a cap on prices.  What are the oil companies going to do, stop selling gas in the United States?  I don't think so.  As one of major consumers of gas and oil in the world, they could not afford to lose us as customers.  A lot of our Congressmen get special interest money from a lot of these companies.  And the one thing keeping them in their position is our vote.  Remember, they are our representatives!  They are there to do our bidding, not just theirs!  I am proposing that we cap prices at $3.50 a gallon nationwide.  If our representatives don't enact some type of capping on gas and oil prices, then we need to vote them out!  One person doesn't have that strong of a voice.  However, if just a 1,000 sign the petition in the 5th Congressional Disctrict here in PA (my home district), that is a significant portion of citizens.  Any representative that does not vote to do something on the national level, I will actively support anyone that runs against them.  And I urge you to do the same.  So please sign this petition to show OUR representatives that we mean business!

Low income family's and single parents can barely make it by on the amount of money they get paid and now to fill a tank of gas every week it is costing the people at a min. $50 for a small tank. Think about it that would equal out to $200 a month just for gas. This is unheard of and this is just for regular unleaded. This doesnt even include the people that have trucks that use diesl or the trucks that only get 7 miles to the gallon and are 24 gallon tanks. This is if they are conservative and are only driving to and from work and taking care of life. Min. Wage does not pay enough for the cost of living rising, food prices rising and now gas, how do you figure that the low and even middle class workers are going to afford to survive with out having to resort to welfare? Why are the prices so high? Enough is enough!

How is it that these products are not considered when they study inflation. It is absurd. Either cap it or put these products into the inflation formula so we can keep pace with the cost of getting to and from work

I think there should be a cap on oil prices. There is no reason there shouldn't be. There is a price cap on several other things like hotels. Its to keep them from illegally over charging.

Something needs to be done about these rediculous prices, low income workers can not afford to get to work or feed their families with gas prices so high.

Its about time all of us stuck together and put a stop to these rich oil companies taking advantage of the americans and putting our nation in the financial strain it has for so long.

The gas prices right now are astonishing....they keep going up while the oil companies claim to not be making a profit! Bullshit!!!

We are a family of three and when we are working which we arent, myself and my Fiance have lost our jobs because of the gas prices, we worked for a transportation service who had to close down because they couldnt make any money because the gas is rediculiously high, so we all lost our jobs and a fine young single mother who had been in business for almost 14 years has had to face bankrupsy, something has to give. I am most certain that the elected officials can afford to go to the grocery store and buy gas, why cant we?

Gas executives should have trouble sleeping at night after the hardships they're placing on the average consumer. It's also vested interest when so many of our leaders have stock in oil companies. No wonder they're in no hurry to put a cap on gas prices. Bush and Cheney will leave office as the richest President and Vice President ever. In Cheney's case, it's easy to understand the term "Vice".
