Lower Spay /Neuter Programs For Low Income Families with pets & Rescues

Target:
Veterinary  Offices
think you should consider the fact that not everyone can afford to pay $25.00 or more for a spay / neuter of any pet that they have. If done at a reasonable price, many more people would get their pets spayed or neutered and even be willing to help the feral (cats) animals get spayed or neutered.  This would greatly reduce the amount of unwanted pets / ferals that go through the rescues and shelters around the state and nation wide each year.  think you should consider the fact that not everyone can afford to pay $25.00 or more for a spay / neuter of any pet that they have. More vets offices should be resposnible enough to know that there is a problem out there with the stray cats and dogs that are not spayed or neutered and help try to solve the problem by not being so greedy and by offering very low cost spay/ neuter services for low income families and for rescues that don't have very big budgets. Veterinary offices could even do a spay / neuter marathon free of charge and deduct the total amount off their taxes.

I would ask my vet to lower the cost because there are alot of pet owners that can't afford to spay and neuter their pets, because of their low income. So lowering the cost would make it so everyone who would like a pet could adopt one without the fear of unwanted pregancies, hence lowering the pet population.

I would ask my vet to lower the cost of getting my dogs spayed because I can't afford. I can barely afford the roof over my head. One of my dogs someone gave me, but the other dog I found on the side of the street with nothing but a bag of food. It breaks my heart that I can't afford it and what would happen if they got pregnant?! That's just more dogs in the pound because I can't afford to take care of them.

It is very hard to spay neuter my animals because even the humane society wants a bunch of money. I am on disability and love my animals but cannot afford the prices.

Yes it is expensive. We just had our dog neutered and the cost was high but worth it if you intend to keep the pet. There should be a program to help with the cost.

To me lowering to price of Spay/neuter would and would reduce the cat poplation in my area people drop cats here all the time because it is to high to get them fixed so they just dump them on someone eles i see them in my yard all the time hungary and need love but I cant take care of all them I live on a fixed in come I wish I could

There are so many animal that are euthanized each year because they don't have homes. We need low cost spay/neuter desperately so that we have a much lower rate of puppies and kittens being born. There are many families who have pets that they love and can afford to feed, but can't afford to have them spayed or neutered.

Yes, I would ask our Vet...it's something that's needed and we need Vets to pitch in and do what they can.

I am disabled and live month to month on a fixed income with medical bills of my own. It is virtually impossible for me to afford the $389 which it would cost to have my companion dog spayed. Thank goodness I live in a apartment complex and my dog is not allowed out off her lead. The guilt I feel not spaying my girl is incredible as I know it is the responsible thing to do. My girl was a rescue who had been on the run and picked up by animal control. I take good care of my dog but even if I do not eat for a month I cannot afford spaying.

Please help the pet population. We are seeing way to many kittens, puppies and other pets thrown on the side of the road because the families can't afford to get their pets spayed or neutered. I live in a very small community and money is tight for alot of people so if we could set up a huge effort to protect the unwanted pets I wouldn't have to be so outraged at all the stray animals that either end of dead or malnurished.

I have been out of work for awhile now due to a work injury so I really can't afford much. Now my Cat (Arlie) is going to give birth any day. We just found a kitty outside but really can't keep him unless I can afford to get him neutered as I do not want the "SPRAYING" or more babies. So I am with you all the way!!!

Yes I will ask my vet, but I really don't think many are will as they are in it for the money.

absolutely--i was recently in a car accident which left me paralyzed--i had to save for a year to get my puppy spayed because it was so expensive. i once had no problem paying the big vet bills all at once, but once you are on a fixed income--u can not do that--everything is an added expense and it would be a great service the vets could provide and give back to society

Tax deductions for veterinarians offering these programs would offset their financial loss and encourage more access to the community. Thank you for your consideration.
