Too many animals are used in testing every year. I believe that no animals should be tested upon for any reason. There are much more effectice methods out there. Britain is the largest animal tester in Europe! Animlas are NOT humans and therefore, any testing on them is ineffective and useless.

We the undersigned believe that animal testing should be stopped. It has no effective use in today's society. As well as being unethical it is unreliable.

The barbaric practice of torturing animals in the name of a twisted science never should have started! Torturing our furry/scaly/slippery friends to test whether or not something is safe for human use is unconscionable, even more so because it does not work. Various drugs keep being recalled due to side effects that didn't show up in research and development. And why didn't those effects show up earlier? Because each species is physiologically unique! I cannot stand the thought of any creature in pain, especially since I have three little dogs. I look in their eyes and know beyond any doubt that human desire for flesh, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or cleaners at their expense is wrong. It is also highly ineffective. End the species-based discrimination! Equal rights for all living creatures!

Testing on animals is *so* 20th Century!! Testing can be done on human tissue samples, cadavers, etc. for medical research. We also have the aid of computers and simulations. Also, if medicines must be tested on animals, then why are they ALSO then tested on humans? Why are there "clinical trials"? Why do some products even reach the market and are THEN discovered to have negative health consequences or even cause human death? Animal testing does NOT save human lives! It merely provides some kind of legal cover for giant corporations to make a larger profit by repackaging an old drug, or making a new cosmetic or shampoo or household cleaner, -- NONE OF WHICH HUMANITY NEEDS!!!! Animal testing is cruel because animals are unable to give consent for the procedures. It is time we stopped thinking of animals as existing solely for humans to USE!! This was the thinking in the past about human slaves, how women were treated by men, and how people justify experimentation on the mentally retarded or mentally ill. Because we feel, or may even in SOME ways BE, superior to another living being, it does not justify cruelty, abuse, or even ownership of another. What is *does* DEMAND in a world of caring humans in that the stronger PROTECT the weaker. This is what I ask you to do.
