Stop the Killing - Make the Haywood County Animal Shelter No-Kill
Cats and dogs dumped at the Haywood County, NC, animal shelter have four days to get out or they will be put to death at any time. Murdering pets is not acceptable, and is a horrible reflection on Haywood County and its residents.
We would like to see an end to the killing at the "animal shelter" which currently serves as a detention center and death camp for strays and abandoned animals.
We are not superior to other animals, they have rights that should be respected.
We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Haywood County Board of Commissioners and the County Manager to institute a "no-kill" policy at the Haywood County Animal Control facility. The tragic extermination of unclaimed animals is not acceptable; killing does not solve the problem of overpopulation--aggressive spay/neuter programs do.
