Make biodegradable plastic bags mandatory

Plastic bags are a heavily consumed product of the non-renewable resource petroleum, when they break down they pollute the sea, the earth, the crops and the animals. Animals can think they are food and choke and die, or have them trapped in their digestive system. It is far from a painless death.
Plastic bags take many years to biodegrade, they are a danger to the health of humans and animals alike. Sign to keep the Canadian environment pristine, beautiful and safe for all life.
We need to get rid of these harmful plastic bags that fill up our precious landscape with landfills. It would make a very significant, positive difference to make biodegradable plastic bags mandatory.
Tell Enviroment Canada, Natural Resources Canada and The Government of Canada that plastic bag consumption in Canada is causing permanent damage to the health of our nation and there needs to be a healthier alternative for the future of our children and our people.

This letter is on the issue of the use of plastic bags in Canada and how they are damaging our pristine environment in a futile, terrifying way. Thousands upon thousands of wildlife are being sicken, poisoned by consuming plastic bags, thinking they are food.
Plastic bags take many years to break down and leave toxic "plastic dust" that pollutes crops, water systems, animals, soil and many forms of life.
They are filling up a large space in landfills, if we could replace ordinary plastic bags with a healthier alternative such as biodegradable plastic it would be such an amazing positive thing for all our health and make Canada much more beautiful!
Can't you see a better Canada for all of us, what our ancestors envisioned for their children? Surely they didn't see a littered, dirty landscape and the suffering of birds and animals as they die slowly with plastic bags inside them. For the future health of my children and your own we ask this as one.
