Make pluto a planet! ( AGAIN!)

Target:
To make Pluto a planet agian
Sponsored by:
From its discovery in 1930 until 2006, Pluto was counted as the Solar System's ninth planet. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, however, many objects similar to Pluto were discovered in the outer solar system, notably the scattered disc object Eris, which is 27% more massive than Pluto.[10] On August 24, 2006 the IAU defined the term "planet" for the first time. This definition excluded Pluto, which the IAU reclassified as a member of the new category of dwarf planets along with Eris and Ceres.[11] After the reclassification, Pluto was added to the list of minor planets and given the number 134340. The thing is that ploto was founded by gailee and it should stay that way. Pluto may just be a over- excessive ball of rock and ice but to some people like me its more than just that its a planet. And my opinion is that pluto is a planet no matter how small. I dont really care how many times people scream at me saying" PLUTO IS NOT A PLANET ANYMORE!"

We the undersigned,

Thank you for taking the time for reading this letter. This is one of three serious issues to me. PLuto is a planet and I dont really care what President Bush says, in fact i dont think anybody cares anymore. but this is all because of him.

Actually, Pluto was found by Clyde Tombaugh. It IS very much a planet. The IAU demotion is indefensible for many reasons--it states that dwarf planets are not planets at all, and it relies on a fuzzy requirement that an object "clear its orbit" would could be understood to exclude all our planets, since none fully clears its orbit of nearby asteroids, and Neptune does not clear its orbit of Pluto. The demotion was done in a surreptitious process by four percent of the IAU, most of whom are not planetary scientists, and was immediately rejected in an official petition of over 300 professional astronomers. A better definition is one provided by my astronomy instructor Al Witzgall: a planet is a non-self-luminous spheroidal body orbiting a star. That means if an object has enough gravity to have pulled itself into a round shape and orbits a star, it's a planet. Under that broad category we can create multiple subcategories, including ice dwarfs, which would make room for objects like Pluto, Eris, and Ceres. They would still be planets, just of a different type, as are terrestrial planets, gas giants, and ice giants.

To me PLUTO will always be a planet in our solar system, and no one will tell me different.
