These people are not only violating animal cruelty standards but are also evading huge amounts of taxes, which in change reduces the ability of the State to collect enough revenue to support our ever growing budget. I just moved to FL and was not aware that puppy mills were legal anywhere in the USA. I will not stop at signing this petition. How this evil can be allowed in our great country is horrifying. I think it's cruel and disgusting to keep an animal confined in poor and cramped conditions for the sole purpose of breeding and generating income for these sorry inhumane people. They should be the ones locked in cages with no one to interact with or talk to, no warm or soft bed, and being fed and watered only when the care taker feels like doing so, or not.

People who run Puppy Mills need to be stopped! They are cruel inhumane to the dogs who are forced to live in wire cages, never to touch the ground, and to be bred over and over again for their entire lifetime and then to be killed when their usefulness is over. It makes me sick to know these Mills are still functioning. And their Vets need to be dealt with too! They are enabling the Mills to continue... and it's all about the Money!
People who run Puppy Mills need to be stopped! sirs, i have searched the web thoroughly and cannot find any strict laws regarding inbreeding and bad breeding causing horrific health problems. i'm not going to start this letter with a heartfelt sob story, i'll leave that for the end. lets talk about money!! are you aware of how much county and state money you are missing out on? backyard breeders friends mostly include vets. vet friends mostly include aka and akc employees and guess what?!!!! they are raking in the bucs because there is no law saying they have to diclose lineage probloms, oh yes. they are required to show parentage but not health issues. if there were laws, there would be fines, if there were fines there would probably be less backyard breeders. just like drug runners, it low overhead and lots of moolah no matter who and what suffers or dies!!!! oh yeah, there is one difference, there are laws and fines when it comes to drugs. backyard breeders are costing our state money desparetly needed in other areas. we are paying to keep up our local animal control (got to have them to pick up agressive dogs that someone bought from a byb and could not afford to take care of mental issues of the animals) we are paying to house and feed stray cats and very sick little dogs again probably do to byb's breeding practices. and then of course the pharmacutical company is making big bucs on the death shot and let's not forget about the poor schmuck who has to bury these animals and upkeep the humaine society buriel grounds (florida lawmakers wouldn't want to appear inhumane to our tourists especially in this economy. anyway there are so many aves to make more money for our great state of florida and a little extra you just by putting strict laws on backyard breeders and their friends or you could do what's right and shut the dog killers down, because believe me most are in it for a fast buc no matter the outcome. now, i would like to tell you a little bit about a little boy named max. yep!!! here comes the sob story!!! max is my 8 yr old pomeranian. i purchased him from maxine reynolds (a backyard breeder in lutz) nice, clean home (at least it was 8 yrs ago)i saw max and looked at my surroundings and thought wow!!!! she must relly be passionate about her craft. she had beautiful poms (32 total, at that time)i purchased max because i fell in love almost in a nano second. 2yrs ago he looked like he hurt himself so i rushed him to the vet thinking maybe stepped on a bee or something. dr. kumara (a very reputible nuerologist at the tampa vet specialist on bush told me i had 2 choices, surgery or death!!!!! max had a hereditary condition called intrverted disc disease. commonly from inbreeding or bad lineage. i opted for surgery of course, but another disc has ruptered last week and will not survive another surgery. i will lose him soon due to the many pain meds snd the effect it has on his internal organs. do i regret getting max? not at all. i love him so much and i think i have given him a good life and vise-versa. i wish you could meet him. he has the soul of a warrior and the body of an old man. when it is time to lay him down a part of me wll go with him. please, as my legislator and law makers and the very body of the great state of florida, shut down the backyard breeders they are inhumane. i only have a voice but you have the authority to make things right for our furry little friends

Puppy mills are just one more example of greed in the US. We don't need people breeding dogs for profit. A true breeder does it because they enjoy the animals and rarely make money off of it. If you take care of your animals before they are sold you usually spend as much on them as their price. I think breeding animals for profit should be stopped. There are way too many pets being euthanized in shelters because stupid people treat them badly and then surrender them. All the people who have been accused of animal cruelty need to spend some time in jail. Maybe they'd realize what it's like for their dogs. Of course they would be treated better than they treated their animals!

I have been disturbed by puppy mills for a long time, but an episode of animal cops philidelphia was on tonight and investigating puppy mills and i was in tears, how it it right for any of these animals to be treated this way, good people like us need to help save them!

The puppy mill dogs are simply a "cash crop" They almost always have medical issues that go untreated. They are crowded together in cages, forced to live in their own urine and poop. They do not know the feel of grass beneath their feet or a kind touch. Human contact is minimal and so they are poorly socialized. Also, often they are "debarked" in the cruelest of manner with a pipe shoved down their thoat without benefit of a vet or anesthesia. Ears and tails are cut as well without benefit of a vet or anesthesia. Please put an end to puppy mills and let's act as a civilized nation and support compassion and kindness to all living creatures. Thank you for your consideration and action on this urgent matter.
