Bring Recycling Pick Up to all of Mooresville, NC

Bring Recycling Pick Up to all of Mooresville, NC

Target:
Mooresville Town Officials
Sponsored by:
We all know that recycling is important, but not everyone has the opportunity to drop off their recycling or to pay for a service to come pick up recycling. It's time that recycling pick up be a regular part of every neighborhood in Mooresville, NC. Now that recycling is law, law should provide recycling bins and pick up to the citizens!
We the undersigned write to insist upon free or affordable curb side recycling pick up for all of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Recycling has many financial and environmental benefits. Since recycling pick up is not offered to all of Mooresville, many families continue to throw away recyclables even when the law forbids it. Recycling will help our community. Pollution may be reduced when recycling is readily available to Mooresville citizens. Energy usage will be reduced since less energy is needed to recycle a bottle than make a bottle from new materials. Local recycling businesses will flourish. New jobs will be created to pick up and sort our recyclables.

We feel that it is important that Mooresville move forward to become a community in which all citizens are able to and choose to recycle. Please make our town a better place by creating a free or affordable recycling pick up system.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter.

I support the efforts to increase the recycle efforts in Mooresville. A few suggestions to help your effort would be to continue or start the following: * Round up several local environmental groups from Audubon, Sierra Club, Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists, Davidson College, and other local interests and bring them all to a city council meeting, have them sign petitions in support of this and get the media involved. * Start a letter writting campaign based on fact and educate those decision makers on why this must take place. * Be prepared to pay for this in higher taxes. Money is tight everywhere and many local governments are looking to cut back services instead of adding new ones. * Have some community events and bring in speakers. Show documentaries such as "The Story of Stuff" to help raise awareness. Good Luck!!!

No one should have the excuse 'my community doesn't support recycling' and no community should have the excuse to not recycle in this day and age.
