I am an avid supporter of direct wine shipment and a general modernization of Maryland's direct wine shipment laws. I feel that special interests and partisan politics have thwarted the true will of the people of Maryland in this matter and urge you to do everything in your power to support direct wine shipment.

I was the owner of a Washington D.C. Leading wine shop for 47 years. I benefitted from the foolish Maryland wine laws. 30 % of my business came from Maryland, for which I was grateful. The red herring about teenagers ordering on the internet using a credit card paying a premium plus shipping and waiting a week to receive this wine just doesn't happen. Certainly, you and your fellow legislators found an older friend or relative or paid somebody to go to the store for you.It was FASTER CHEAPER and FAR EASIER and SURER.I suspect campaign contributions sacrificing Maryland citizens desires verses special interests is the guiding factor. This does not pass the smell test. I am available for further discussion at 301-530-7715

I don't believe one legislator should be able to control the action not moving forward when the wishes of so many others in the legislature are opposed to her view.

I believe it is time for the citizens of Maryland to have greater choice in their consumer habits. This law as it now stands serves only a limited few (wholesale wine lobby) and does not give choice to the greater majority of the responsible citizens of Maryland.

I am very disappointed to hear that a bill that has the support of 106 out of 188 State Legislators is being bottled in Committee by Sen.Joan Conway, whose husband has a job as a City Liquor inspector at $67000 per year, and Sen. Mike Miller, a strong supporter of first slots, and now table games, all of which will be lubricated by MD Liquor Industry moneybags, which also pour money into Miller's political slush fund. Not only should this bill be passed, but very serious ethical investigations should be initiated before a horrible ugliness blows up MD's legislature.

How can you let one legislator thwart the will of the majority of the legislators? Pry this legislation out of the hands of Sen Conway. Harold Quayle

I am a Maryland resident, registered voter and a wine lover. I urge you to pass this bill. It seems ridiculous Maryland cannot enjoy the benefit of shipping or receiving shipped wines for the reasons given.

I am a constituent and urge you to support direct wine shipping. Please encourage your colleagues on the respective committee to pass this bill to the full chamber and let me know if you plan to represent your constituents' interests in this matter. Allowing the mailing of wine in and outside of Maryland could be used to generate additional tax revenue.

It is vital to our business as a wine producer to supply our customers in Maryland. Customers that would like our wines should not be penalized because they live in a "no-ship state", all of-age, legal customers should be allowed to choose what wines they would like to purchase and consume without the state's involvement.

Senator Conway - direct shipping of wine will not destroy the current distribution system, nor will it "violate its integrity." Teens won't get the wine - FedEx and UPS respect the law in other states. This is simply a matter of fairness. Please allow the bill to proceed.

Please support the initiatives to promote marketing and shipping Maryland wines. I am a wine aficionado with many Maryland wines among my favorites. In addition to developing Maryland's wine industry, this will bring added revenue to our state. it is my great pleasure to serve Maryland wines to guests. I am moving away this year; how will I obtain my favorite wines without this bill?

The only thing the state is doing is protecting its revenue source, which is not a good reason to have the law.

It's ridiculous that we can't get these laws changes, especially with a majority in the House of Delegates and Senate supporting changed laws. I'm going to visit California later this month, and fortunately, I have in-laws in Delaware, so I can ship my wine purchases there. A progressive state like Maryland shouldn't be stuck in the 1930s prohibition era.

Ask yourself why Maryland is still using laws from the 1930's. This is absurd. 37 other states have been on board and collecting tax income for years. Maryland needs to reverse these laws and move forward - now!

I am an annoyed constituent and urge you to support direct wine shipping. The reasons for this prohibition are transparent and silly. It's time to wake up and get on board with the rest of the states in this country. Our youth will not be jeopardized by the threat of easy access to alcohol by the passing of this bill. This is one of the simpler votes you'll have to make during your term. It should not have dragged on as long as it has. Please encourage your colleagues on the respective committee to pass this bill to the full chamber and let me know if you plan to represent your constituents' interests in this matter.

Please support the small wineries of Maryland as well as Virginia and other states by allowing them to ship to consumers. Please also trust the people of Maryland enough to allow them to make their own decisions about wine purchases. We don't need middlemen.

The fact that this is still not legal is a shadow on Maryland's rep. I know we still inherit prohibition legacy but this is ridiculous.
