Sen. Bill Nelson(D)FL, with what I believe is an exaggerated number: 100,000 pythons in the Everglades "...is appealing to the Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, for a massive python hunt." I would ask the Hon. Senator to check with an honorable herpetologist, such as Harry W. Greene, Ph.D at Cornell University, the author of: Snakes:theEvolutionofaMiracle. Dr. Greene is an expert in his field and you can trust what he says. I hope the Senator will please hold off until he get more facts on this situation. We surely don't want the magnificent alligator to be the victum of a massive hunt. Readers please help and sign this petition.

We the undersigned ask that you might have a little more patience and a good fact-finding effort before it is decided to commence this hunt. I remember ten, or more years ago a child drowned in a five or ten gallon bucket and there was an immediate call for the banning of of that size bucket! Senator Nelson, please reconsider your recent decision? Thank you for your time in reading my letter. Respectfully,
We signed the "Another Massive Killing Hunt?" petition!

There is such a thing as 'catch and release' Senator--it is unnecessary to KILL anything that moves because of fear and ignorance. Pythons in the Everglades could be caught and moved to zoo's, sanctuaries or possibly relocated to their native country for release into their wilds where they originally came from. Killing should always be the very last option instead of always the first.

I would hope that calmer heads would prevail and that facts not panic would be used to decide if an entire population should die. The death of a child is always a bad thing. But we need to see the irresponsible action of the boyfriend as the cause. First -penelties for release of the snakes must be in place. put the blame where it belongs -on us Then take steps to deal with problem created by our actions that reflect respect for all life.

Animals should be numerous. They were here before humans. Why should innocent animals have to pay with their lives for the ignorance of humans?!?

just because they are numerous, doesn't mean you can freely hunt and kill them. its better for the pythons to be alive and well tarhter than endangered. so if you hunt all these pythons, you mean to say species that have high populations must be hunted? then does that also mean that humans can be killed because we, too, have high populations?
