Long-term homeless shelters focus on helping the homeless get back on their feet. They aim to provide a stable housing solution for the homeless while providing them with counseling, education and job and housing placement much more.
This petitions sends a message to our leaders in our community and will be presented at all the City Councel meetings through out the Matanuska Susitna Valley. I grew up in Wasilla and I can't imagine anyone there without some kind of shelter in the winter. The wind is so wicked...one year it ripped the roof off of Colony Middle School! A shelter is a must! Please take care of those less fortunate than you and I.

I think the time is now to do something about the homeless problem before it gets to epic proportions like in the lower forty-eight. For the individuals in the homeless population who haven't chosen to be in this situation, and would benifet from these shelters I highly support, and they should be able to have that rescource available to them to help them get on their feet. especially if there are children involved.
