maximum penalty for the men who hacked up a puppy.

maximum penalty for the men who hacked up a puppy.

Target:
Mackay Magistrate's Court

Hardened police officers have been shocked by the horrifying torture, mutilation and brutal slaying of a seven month old fox terrier puppy near Mackay at the weekend.

If found guilty, they could face up to two years in prison. Police have obtained video footage from a mobile phone which shows graphic images of the puppy yelping and howling in terrible pain as it hacked to pieces with garden shears and a pocked knife.

They said the owners were too distressed to talk to anyone about it.

The pups nose was cut off, its front right leg and rear left leg were cut off and it was decapitated. A three-part video series on a mobile phone shows the dog being tortured.

The maximum penalty under the Animal Care and Protection Act for such an offence is $75,000 or two years in jail; however the maximum penalty ever handed out has been a four month jail term.

WE BELIEVE THESE MEN SHOULD RECIEVE THE MAXIMUN PENALTY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS SADISTIC, DISGUSTING ACT.

We the undersigned ask that the maximum penalty be given to the two sadistic men who tortured 'Peanut' the fox terrier puppy in Queensland.

We believe this is the most horrendeous case of animal cruelty in our country and we hope that the courts hand down the most severe punishment.

As a minimum we ask that the men recieve two years in prison without parole and a $75,000 fine each. We believe the crime far exceeds the punishment available, so please make an example of this highly publised, sickening case.

Thank you for your time and we hope that you appreciate the public outrage and shame over this gruesome act.

When I read stuff like what happened to "Peanut" I fell really sad, anilmals are like people. Theese men that did this horrible crime, should be charged and locked up for life. Killing an animal is like killing a human. They should be charged as such..

I'm sick of people pleading insanity. In most cases this is a cop out. Something needs to be done or it will be someones child next. They are grown men who knew what they were doing and need to be held accountable. It's about time society stood up for animal rights and protected them. This may be just an animal but to the poor owners peanut was there family member, and justice should be done.

I could not imagine a person who could do this to a defenseless animal!!! Peanut was someones loved pet and family member!!! they shpuld not be allowed to plead insanity because they showed enough cognition to video the evidence of this awful crime!!! they knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong!! peanut needs a voice!!! they obviously didnt listen to his small voice crying for help,,, so we all need to form a louder voice to let people know this is not ok!!! and you will be punished!

I would like to see these men get what they deserve...torture them as cruelly as they did to the little innocent puppy.

If we let people get off with such a thing so easily, it will happen more often.

is wll documented that many murderers begin by tormenting animals it is obvious that these men will cause harm in the future,as long as the law treats animals as property, this first step to future crimes goes lightly punished they will not fear repercussions and will move right on to children. Please stop them here instead of waiting for the next act!

In cases like these it should be an eye for an eye. These men should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Lock them up and throw away the key. On top of that they should be ashamed of themselves for what they have dont to a poor defenseless puppy. Shame on them.

These types of people should be fined to the max and imprisoned for at least 10 years.

People who torture innocent animals should have the same done to them so as they know what it's like to suffer just like that poor little puppy.

That is so horrible! I can't believe how anyone could do such a thing to a poor seven month old puppy! They seriously need to get as MUCH punishment as possible in my opinion. Throw away the key!

This kind of behaviour makes me sick to my stomach. I almost can't believe this is real. It's very sad that people can be so cruel and depraved, and it is definite inhumane.
