Every year, millions of chickens are raised and killed for McDonald's menus. These birds suffer from broken legs, have their throats cut while they are still conscious, and are scandeled alive - even though less cruel slaughter methods are avalible.

  In the slaughterhouses that supply McDonald's with chicken, birds are dumped out of their transport crates and hung upside-down by their legs in metal shackels, which can result to broken bones, bruising, and hemorrhaging. Birds even have their throats cut while they are still consious, and many are dunked into tanks of scandaling hot water while they are still alive and able to feel pain.

  Chickens are pretty close to cats and dogs (or any other animal) and just like any other animal they love their family and value their own lives. A mother hen, just as a human mother would sing to her child in the woub, cluck to her unborn chicks. Chickens look out for each other just as we look out for everyone around us. But these gentle creatures recieve extreme abuse from undertrained workers. Workers in the slaughterhouses use methods of killing such as slamming chickens into walls, spitting tobacco in the chickens eyes, and stomping on them.

In the e-mail please include to tell them that they should use Controlled-atmosphered killing (CAK) is a less cruel slaughter method that McDonald's is refusing to use. The way they work the CAK is they gently replace the oxygen in their cages with the other gases, so the chickens don't have to feel the pain. 
 
Think of it this way: If you eat chickens your eating babies.

I was shocked to learn that McDonald's knows (through your own investigation and the experience that your European suppliers have) that controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK) could eliminate the worst abuses your chickens suffer, yet you refuse to require that your suppliers in the U.S. adopt this slaughter method.

Please require your suppliers to switch to CAK immediately so that the birds they kill will no longer suffer broken limbs, abuse by workers, having their throats cut while they are still conscious, or being scalded to death in defeathering tanks.
