Sign Now, Help Stop The Dog & Cat Meat Trade

"If you love dogs and cats, please sign this petition and help stop their suffering. What is fundamental to the practice of dog and cat eating is that the cruelty is often deliberate and slaughter methods are designed to intensify and prolong the suffering in the misguided belief that torture equals taste. They believe that the animals adrenaline (triggered from complete fear) will make the meat taste better.

These dogs and cats are stuffed in to cages that barely even fit one dog, and hauled in the back of cargo trucks with out food or water to the place where they will meet their death. They are thrown around in the cages like cargo, leaving wounds and gashes for them to suffer with until they are murdered in the utmost horrendous ways.

In situations where the torture is not deliberate, the method of slaughter is still tragically cruel. Markets in China employ killing methods that leave both dogs and cats suffering a lingering, violent death as they are either hit over the head, stabbed in the neck or groin, hanged, electrocuted or thrown conscious into large drums of boiling water.

There are numerous conflicting beliefs regarding dog-eating, for example dogs are eaten in the summer months in Korea to cool the body down, but in China they are eaten in the winter to warm the body.

In Korea, contrary to popular belief, dog-eating is a relatively recent phenomenon and has never been a part of their culinary history. The fabrication of dog and cat meat as an age-old part of Korean cultural heritage is a marketing strategy by unscrupulous vendors who are exploiting an easy-to-produce commodity.

Dogs are eaten in large numbers in China and Korea, and on a smaller scale in parts of Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar, the Asian portions of the former Soviet Union, Thailand and Vietnam. In many of these countries, the practice is less than a few generations old.

Cats are eaten in southern China, Korea and some parts of Indonesia.

It is estimated that as many as 30% of the dogs sold for food in Korea are stolen pets.

Dog eating is illegal in Hong Kong, Korea and the Philippines and was banned in Taiwan in 2001, but it is still in fact going on.

There must be some way to put these dog and cat slaughter houses out of business, as well as prosecute the ones still doing it illegally still to this day. I want to put a stop to the meat trade of dogs and cats for good, as well as make it illegal in all places."

We the undersigned present this petition to ask you to please take action against the people within your communities that are stealing and slaughtering dogs and cats for their fur, torturing them and eating them. Many people have been shocked by the images of tortured dogs and cats, pictures coming from members of your communities as well as from visitors of your communities. We wish that you put a stop to this. Please take in to consideration the innocence of the dogs and cats, and end these horrible deaths. We wish for you to end the meat trade of dogs and cats entirely, as well as make it illegal.
