My father was aboard. I was 5 and my sister was 3. Been to Chicago a few time to visit family in past. Never went here as it didn't seem there was anything to see. Might be different if there was a memorial or something to view and try to help with the closure. 30 years past, and you get on with your life, but never really get over growing up without a dad. Have wife and kids now. One son of my own. Never take them for granted. I love them everyday knowing from this tragedy we might not be here tommorrow. I was lucky to have some memories with him, but my sister has to rely on stories from family. Think this memorial would be good. I saw the special on history channel last year. Even that helped knowing I was not alone in still searching for answers and being upset, seeing other families interviewed on it. Everyone had their own unique story of their family member. I was just waiting for my dad to come home from a buisness trip with my toy airplane he promised to bring if I was good and behaved while he was gone. Of all things to ask for, an airplane. Good luck on your endevor to get the memorial. I will keep all you families in my prayers. |
