Re: Metal Detectors in schools
There should be a metal detector in every school in America, from elementary all the way to college. There have been quite a few school shootings here in the U.S. with several young people and faculty killed. I think there should not only be metal detectors in Junior High, High School and Colleges but also Elementary schools.
Say a young child is angry with another student or teacher and finds their parent's gun at home, takes it to school to shoot that person not knowing that it will kill him/her. Children see violence on television every day. They may see an actor/actress on television/movies get killed and then they see that actor/actress in another movie/television program so they may not know that a gun kills in real life.
Your child spends 6 to 8 hours a day, five days a week, nine months out of the year, more then 12 years, if they go to college, of their lives in school. As a parent I feel better knowing that the school checked for weapons from each student before entering the school. It will make me feel better knowing that my child is more protected while I am not with him/her.
