Michigan animal cruelty case dismissed.

Jackson County Animal Control officers responded to a complaint about the horses and initially visited the farm. According to their report, investigating officers found "about 50% of their horses to be thin and another 10% to be emaciated." The report also indicated the horses--including Paints, Quarter Horses, and Thoroughbreds--had no access to water or grain; that their sole apparent feed source was a round bale "consisting of tree leaves and grass;" and that general debris accumulation and disrepair rendered conditions around the farm hazardous. Investigators also reported finding a dead horse in the farm's driveway.
Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Chad C. Schmucker stated "There was no finding by the District Court to suggest that either of the defendants knew their actions were wrong at the time this crime was committed or that they intended to cause physical or mental harm to any of these three animals"
This judge needs to be told that ignorance of the law is no excuse and that not providing food and water to any living creature results in physical and mental pain. If this "lack of knowledge" from adults is acceptable, then it appears, in Michigan at least, anybody pleading ignorance can get away with murder.

Hello??? are you that ignorant??? How would you feel if you were unable to take care of yourself for whatever reason ( just as animals aren't able to take care of themselves), and the person taking care of you didn't feed you or give you water??? would that be acceptable in your eyes??? of course not!! Why?? because obviously you are capable of taking care of yourself and while your in your cozy home eating a hot meal, you could care less about the animals out there that are hungry or thirsty because it doesn't affect you any!!! you have a good job and can make poor stupid decisions and get paid for it!!! you need to seek help for throwing that case out, you may be a BIT OFF!!!

Dear Judge Chad C. Shumacker What is wrong with you? short of being severly mentally retarded everybody knows that not providing any living thing with food and water will lead to horrific suffering and eventually death. If these defendants had done the same thing to their children could they claim ignorance and get away with it in your court? I am so sick of Judges letting animal abusers off with a slap on the hand. Don't you have any ethics or morals or compassion. Of course all judges have to have been lawyers at one time and i guess that answeres my question about ethics and morals. Everytime you let an animal abuser walk maybe that will be another year you have to spend in HELL.
