The Montana State Legislature Ag Committee on Thursday of last week passed HB 418, a proposal that supports horse-slaughter, by a vote of 15-5. It goes to the floor of the house this week, possibly as soon as March 6th, 2009 for a final vote.
If you are from Montana, please contact your state legislators to let them know you VOTE and are opposed to horse-slaughter. If you are not from Montana, we urge you to contact your own state legislators to let them know that you oppose horse slaughter and support the HR 503, the federal bill now pending in Congress that would ban the practice once and for all in this country, and will also prohibit the exportation of our American Horses to any other country for slaughter.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE that, as a result of a meeting of the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) held last December, a plan was formulated by certain pro-slaughter politicians to push their pro-slaughter agenda on a state-by-state basis across the land, working through their own state legislatures. Due to the plan of the NCSL, several other states are proposing legislation in their own home states to support horse-slaughter. Please if you live in one of the states below, contact your state legislatures to let them know you vote and OPPOSE horse slaughter. NCSL Petition;http://tinyurl.com/c6pa2d
