As the founding committee envisions The Montessori Academy of Parker (MAP), the best way to develop a Montessori institution capable of serving students for the whole of their pre-k, k, elementary, middle, and high school years was through a partnership with the Douglas County School District. In which, the financial burden of private school tuition is alleviated by state and federal funding. The MAP Committee has worked diligently to assemble the complex application for this charter school and now needs the community support by way of signing this petition.
The Montessori philosophy is a research-based, proven theory of educating children that has existed for over 100 years, producing quality citizens the world over. Its focus is on the whole child, and the importance of self directed learning through discovery. Under the Montessori system of mixed-age classrooms in which three grade levels are taught in one classroom, grades 1-3 are considered lower-elementary; 4-6 upper-elementary; and 7-9 middle-school) and our goal is to offer five lower-elementary classes and three-upper-elementary classes, including Pre-K and K, with each class capped at 30 students, in 2009, so that when we open our doors, we will serve 200 students, offering area families a choice quite distinct from the public schools or the various Core Knowledge oriented charter schools. We intend from that point to grow, offering two more upper-elementary level classes and two middle schools classes by the 2014/2015 school year.
The MAP Founding Committee was formed in June of 2008 by eleven parents from a variety of vocational backgrounds, who are determined to provide their and other area children with an authentic Montessori education. The application will be submitted by September 08, 2008, and the results should be known by the first of the New Year.

We would love to have a public montessori school in our community! The current schools in our area are at capacity, thus, many have resulted in utlitizing track systems. This would be another alternative for parents who believe that the montessori philosophy is a great alternative in teaching and learning!

My daughter is doing great in the Montessori environment at Renaissance. I would like for her to continue in this type of learning/education. I like that she has the opportunity to explore and discover. Her curiosity and love of learning has been opened and been enhanced through her Montessori experience. Montessori would be an asset to the Douglas County School District.

I hope this gets approved because my son Dylan is really thriving in the montessori environment and I would love to continue his education with this format.

My experience with the Parker Montessori preschool has been excellent. I would welcome the opportunity to continuing my daughter's education in the same fashion going forward. Thank you.

My son thrived at the Montessori school he attended for a couple of years before it became too much of a financial burden for us. We would love to have the opportunity to send our son (and our new baby daughter) to a Montessori school. Please, please, please approve this Montessori Charter school!
Thank you.

My son was able to attend a Pre-K Montessori where he thrived in an envrironment that encouraged self direction and independent thought. Due to the over crowded schools in Douglas County, he is in an afternoon class at Public School and doesn't appear as excited about his school and the time he spends there. An elementary Montessori option would have a positive life long affect on his education and is severly needed in Douglas County.

I feel that the Monessori Academy of Parker would be a great addition to Douglas County, and specifically Parker. There are a number a great charters in the area but the waiting lists are so long that there is little hope for a chance to attend. Montessori Academy help bring the charter school opportunity to more children in Douglas County.

Just what this state and country needs more of. Better education for our children, which leads ultimately to that child growing up with the tools needed to help him/her with this ever changing world we live in. And it also provides added benefits to the parents of our children. Everyone gets involved in the learning process. Thats the way school should be.
