I, as most of you know, have been working with the television stations and have brought the humane society of the united states into this. I just got off the phone with the deputy director of animal cruelty issues for HSUS and the state attorney in Miami who is handling both cases. They both want calls from people to the state attorney asking for convictions of these men. They are going to take all the names and quotes/requests before the judge when these officers go to trial. Please I am begging you to call the assistant state attorney. Be very nice but tell her what you think and why these men should be found guilty.

The NC officer kicking his suspended K-9 represents the type of Police officer that citizen's fear. Tolerating this type of behaviour is tantamount to tolerating other types of police abuse. I am not an animal rights activist by any stretch of the imagination but if this man (or others like him) is re-hired as a police officer, prison guard, security guard or any other position of "authority" then injustice prevails and fear will continue to dominate much of the public's relationship with, and perception of law enforcement.

I’m a firm believer in an eye for an eye, what ever you do to someone you should get the same thing done to you, if you kill someone with a gun or knife, etc. that is the way you should die. If it was up to me I would put that officer in that vehicle and let her suffer like the K-9 did, let her set there with no water and little air waiting for someone to come get her that is not coming.

just recently, according to several news articles, a mulberry, fl. k9 named sam diesel suffered a horrible death while left neglected in a police vehicle with the engine running for over 3 hours while his caretaker was sitting at a desk doing paperwork and never checked on him. the a/c in the vehicle malfunctioned and an alarm had not yet been installed. i cannot believe charges have not been brought against the female officer/handler. any private citizen would be held accountable for such a tragedy. but more important... that beautiful shepherd is dead for no reason except for being unfortunate enough to be left in the hands of an irresponsible and obviously careless person. if she can't support a trained partner left in her care .... how on earth can she maintain a position to protect and serve anyone?

Please impose the penalty which is appropriate for this crime. Also, in my opinion, lengthy jail sentences do not always help rehabilitate. Perhaps community service, (namely, helping animals).
