We, the parents of Mosside Elementary School students, would like to petition the School Board to hire teachers to replace some of those retiring in order to maintain small class sizes. We believe that this is crucial to guarantee the best possible education for all of our children. According to recent studies, it has been determined that grades K thru 4 are where our children develop the foundation that will carry them throughout their school career and therefore require small class size. We insist that you replace the teachers that are leaving the elementary school in order to keep a small class size.

It is more than beneficial for kids to have smaller classes so the teachers can be more attentive to what the students need help with.

Although my children did not attend Mosside Elementary, I am a Monroeville resident who cares about the quality of education my school district is providing. Smaller class sizes, especially at the elementary level is vital to the success of the students. 21 students in a Kindergarten class is truly unmanageable without at least an aide. There are many other areas to cut back on - not teachers, books and the other resources teachers need to do their jobs well!

As a parent of 3 children, and also an alumni, of the Gateway School District, I feel that the Gateway School District is failing our children in many ways already. Having smaller classes would take away from the early education these children need. It is an absolute disgrace, the way this School District supports sports rather than our childrens' education.

Child to Teacher Ratio is a major component in a classroom. For the taxes we pay and most importantly our children's educational future is worth every penny to make it right.

I want these kids to learn as much as they can since they are MY future. Smaller class size = more learning. I am willing to forfeit the cost of one pizza night PER YEAR in order to pay for retention of most teaching positions. I will not miss that tiny bit of money one iota, especially since I am getting more than that this year in casino refund.

I have a grandson that will be entering this school in the fall and I would like to see a restriction on the class size.

The main reason that my husband and I moved to Monroeville was so that our children could attend Gateway School District. I have one son in Moss Side Middle School and have witnessed the lack of control over the children and the difference in education that larger class size brings with it. Please do not do this to our children. Those teachers were there for a reason and they helped to provide our children with the education that they need and deserve. If you change the situation now, five years down the road, there will be a huge difference in the achievements of these children and how will that look for the funding that you regard so highly?

Bigger classrooms means bigger problems for teachers to deal with, taking up more time that could be spent teaching.

I work for Gateway food service and all of my children went to Mosside Elementary. In my opinion the school board members need to take into consideration if their children were going there would they like it if their child was not getting the attention needed because of to many children in the class room.

My daughter will be in 1st grade at Pitcairn Elementary- I am very concerned about class size, the change in student population here and the lack of concern regarding this issue. We are looking at charter schools if her class is too large next year. Thank-you

My daughter is a 4th grade student at Evergreen. Even though this doesnt directly affect me, her classes over the years have been small and she has excelled academically due to the smaller classes. I believe it is in the best interest of our children's education to provide them with the best opportunities throughout their early learning years. A large class will not only hard to control but those who are not as a quick learn will suffer due to the lack of personal attention that some of these children will need to succeed.

This is a terrible thing to do. My son who is a student at mosside elementary has done better with the smaller size classrooms because he gets the extra help that he needs to excell. this would be terrible to do this to the students. If you people are so concerned about the no child left behind program, then why are you doing this to our children.

As a parent of a K-4 student myself, though not in Mosside, but another Gateway S.D. school, I support these parents in there wishes to keep their childrens' class sizes down. Children learn better in smaller environments, where the chance for one-on-one opportunities are more numerous.
