The slaughter of the innocents.

Namibian Seals still in Danger.

Target:
Namibian Director of Tourism: Mr.Sem Shikonga
It has come to our attention that the "business deal" between Hatem Yavus and "Seal Man" Francois Hugo is not a done deal and we are horrified that the innocent lives of thousands of Cape Fur seals is still very much at stake with their fur destined for the popular fur market in the Middle East and China.
Unless Francois Hugo ( http://www.sealalertsa.wordpress.com ) can produce around $14million within days, the Sealers will go ahead with the scheduled slaughter. The Namibian Government remains unmoved by this event and insists that it has a constitutional right to do with its "resources" what it will to generate revenue for the country. With the population of Cape Fur seals facing extinction, this will not be for long. Please do not sign this petition if you have already signed our "13 Days to the Worlds largest Seal slaughter" as we will now combine those signatures collected and the ones raised with this petition, and forward them all on to the Namibian Director of Tourism and The Director of Environmental Affairs. The "business" of sealing is a complicated, ugly and a largely illegal affair and it seems our only course of action is to pressure the Namibian Government directly by pledging to boycott tourism to that country unless this barbaric and unsustainable culling is halted...forever! Please email your activist agencies to get involved and spread the word, as well as to friends,  family and groups. Besides this petition, which will reach the international community, I will be urging friends and groups here in South Africa to email the Namibian Ministers directly. Please do not give up on the Namibian seals!
In hope,
Jen and Friends

Dear Sirs,
We the undersigned,
Urge you to please take it upon yourselves, the Government of Namibia, to put a halt to the cruel and unnecessary slaughter of the Cape Fur seals. We understand that you see the Cape Fur seal as a valuable resource, generating revenue for your country, yet we feel that the Sealing industry could generate far more revenue were your Government to turn this resource into a sustainable market like Eco-Tourism.This would generate long-term financial benefits for employees in the industry and save the seal colony from dwindling even further. We are also concerned with the exploitation of this precious resource, the Cape Fur seals, by unscrupulous and dishonourable Fur Traders who have no interest in Namibia other than to ransack its natural treasures. Please save your Cape Fur seals and reap the benefits of this humane  and mercifull action.
Thanking you for taking the time to read our letter.
Kind Regards

Thank you for signing this petition. Along with the previous petition as well as the email petition we are able to send 2000 signatures to the Government Of Namibia. The awareness raised by Seal Alert, The Anti-Fur society and private groups has brought this issue sharply into focus. We can only hope that this is the last time seals will be the victims of this brutal and unnecessary practice. Please continue to spread the word, boycott Namibian products and visit the Namibian Govenment Website to find details of Government officials to send your personal messages of outrage.Do not give up on the baby Seals!!

People will continue to boycott Namibia tourism, fish products in stores, omega capsules, Namibia diamonds, literature, ... Anything and Everything. It's easy in the United States with labeling regulations on products! Stop clubing seals into extinction! Namibians themselves are causing their own economic decline!!!

here we go with the fur trade again....we are not ancient cave people dependent on animal to keep warm anymore. Between fashion industry and china, there dosen't seem to be any kind of imagination for fashionable clothes that does not include furs?? with the beauty of fabrics, and natural things that don't require killing, i am sure you can think of something else other then murdering innocent animals. money hungrey world we live in, and its destructive to life and environments. the day will come, when these resources will not be here anymore.

I have just cancelled my holiday to Namibia because of this awful cull. I can not condone this cruelty and sub human behaviour by bringing tourist money in to the country. When the seals are protected and the cull is totally banned, I would love to visit the country.

It's deplorable, as well as curiously uneconomical for a poor country to continue an industry that generates $50,000/year, while ignoring the much more lucrative and humane tourism industry that wants to see seals in the wild. End this barbaric and senseless business at once!

ALL life needs to be respected. These animals are intelligent and emotional and feel pain - its NOT and NEVER will be ok to harm them for our own selfishness and greed.
