The Province of New Brunswick is allowing the harvest of 800 hectares of Crown Land (hardwood) that has been protected since the 1970's. It was protected because wood harvest would significantly damage the natural drainage course into a spring fed lake. The lake is Skiff Lake NB. The area in particular is on a steep hill that falls toward the shore line. It would be an environmental disaster to the lake, the fish (12 species), the many loon families (sign of a healthy lake) and wildlife habitant. The hardwood will be harvested to produce fiber that will be shipped to India (AV Nackawick) where rayon will be manufactured. The finished product does not come back to Canada yet it is our hardwood and our Crown Land... we need to STOP THIS HARVEST!!! Please email to the of New Brunswick Shawn.Graham3@gnb.ca, Donald Arseneault Minister of Natural resources donald.arseneault@gnb.ca and MLA D Alward at mlawod@nb.aibn.com Saying the following: We the Undersigned are requesting the Province of New Brunswick to " withdraw the authority of A.V. Nackawic from cutting the 800 hectares of Crown Land found on the hills of Skiff Lake and to have the lands set aside with the New Brunswick Nature Trust in perpetuity."
