Ban Fireworks in South Africa

Fireworks are hamful to pets, wildlife and children.
Animals try to escape loud bangs and end up stuck, badly injured, or sometimes die.
Please help ban fireworks in South Africa once and for all!
It is very important that we get enough signatures so that animals can live in harmony with nature, instead of having to try escape some man-made activity, because the people do not think of them and the fact that they hear 10 TIMES louder than we do (imagine how loud a firework would be to them if they are already so loud to us!)
It's fine if Fireworks are played with in safe, non-residential environment, so as not to harm and animals or even children whatsoever... however, people still do not comply with these rules and now we have to take stand against those who refuse to think about what they are doing to the animals!

Did you know fireworks are a celebration regarding the foiled plot to abolish governments? Yes it is and I will never celebrate fireworks. Fireworks are responsible for many accidents INCLUDING pets. Ditch fireworks. Many also dont realize the trouble they cause. It is a false tradition.

I am totally against fireworks that are of an explosive nature. Every year fireworks seem to get noisier to the point they make me physically ill! I feel that many peoples rights are being abused by a those who say they want it for religious purposes.We even celebrate Guy Fawks which is not even a South African affair. Diwali in Durban is a nightmare we are subjected to explosive fireworks for 2-3weeks with is not right! I cannot believe that our old people, young children & our pets as well as wild life must be subjected to this sort of fiasco! Surely there are alternatives like firework displays @ stadiums instead of @ home where people can hurt themselves & others. How much longer are you the government going to sit on this issue. There are so many against this allowance of selfcenteredness? Please do something about the huge explosions caused by illegal fireworks!!!!!! They cause so much harm

Please ban this appalling practice. I feel very aggressive during the fireworks season be it Guy Fawkes or Divali - in our area theres plenty of loud bangs. I wish i could blow a few crackers in the culprits ears for using them - perhaps they will feel exactly how a dog feels when they hear them at a distance. I really feel for the animals and wish i could do more to stop this. 100% behind the banning of all fireworks.

I work at a Veterinary Hospital, and do voluntary work for the SPCA. It hurts so much to see animals injured by the lack of knowledge and plain cruelty by some inconsiderate 'humans'. Yes fireworks represent a celebration, but Devali is a celebration of lights not big bangs. Dogs become petrified, they get lost end up on freeways, get burnt and even worse the trauma they endure... its inconsiderate... its cruel... its sad. What we as staff and doctors see at the vet and SPCA is terrible. Animals with legs blown off. Dogs which have chased a firework and its exploded in their mouths, their faces blown apart. ...they have no mouths... the pain these animals have to go through. It not just once a year, its Christmas, Devali, new year, guyfawks, and a few weeks prior and post these events.. it breaks my heart... OUR VETS AND US STAFF AND THE ONES WHO CANT GET THESE IMAGES OUT OUR HEADS... PLEAS BAN FIREWORKS--- THE LOUD EXPLOSIVE AND HARMFUL ONES. I've spoken about animals let alone young children who are not supervised and blow off their arms and legs...
