SOMERSET COUNCIL TO PREVENT THE ZOO FROM ACQUIRING ELEPHANTS.
- A 2008 DEFRA study visited each elephant in a UK zoo and found welfare problems with every single one.
- The RSPCA, the Captive Animals' Protection Society and the Born Free Foundation are all vehemently opposed to the keeping of elephants in zoos have expressed their serious concerns to NAZF, urging them to scrap the plans.
- Last year NAZF were kicked out of zoo trade body BIAZA when it emerged they had withheld information relating to them trading animals with Great British Circus owner, Martin Lacey.
