Canadian Nuke Shut Down Petition
The Ontario government has promised an upgrade for the Bruce County nuclear power facility to go towards building a few new reactors and fixing up old ones. Many nuclear positive website have labelled this upgrade as a godsend while labelling wind and solar plants as %u2018Pesky%u2019. However, this upgrade is just one step closer to turning our planet into a nuclear disaster zone. Stop the problem before it gets any worse!
Here is three reasons why nuclear power plants are so bad.
1. All the uranium that they use has to be mined; Mining causes massive amounts of CO2.
2. They emit tonnes of nuclear waste every year; radioactive waste causes cancer in thousands every year, as well as destroying the environment.
3. They are not completely safe; when something like a nuclear meltdown happens, toxic wastes and gases (mostly radioactive) are spewed into the atmosphere as well as into the areas surrounding the power plant.
It is absolutely controversial that we ban all nuclear energy in Canada NOW! At the state our environment is in now, we can%u2019t afford to wait much longer.
Remember that this survey is only for banning nuclear energy and not for banning plants that produce radioactive goods for medicinal use.

Nuclear waste is destructive of all living things. Nuclear waste lasts forever and must also be monitored forever. Nuclear waste will beggar our grand children. I agree there are better alternatives!!!Wind and solar power need to be optimized as a clean energy source. Radio activity is too volatile and too dangerous and too toxic a power source!!!
