When students attend college their goal is to get an education for the job they want to spend the rest of their life doing. They do not want to to the same classes they were forced to take in high school. For example, english, math, etc...A music major does not want to spend their time in an english class doing the same stuff they have been doing since they were in elementary school. A history major does not want to sit in a science class learning about the osmosis of cells. People with a specified major want to spend their time, and money, on the classes that they will use in their future careers. So many students drop out of college because they get behind in these "filler" classes and they cant focus on the classes that are directed toward their major. Please sign this petition and help to rid the colleges of these pointless classes.

Gen. Ed. classes are a huge waste of time and money. Just teach us what we need to know for the career field we're going into and teach those concepts well!

Required classes and general education classes should not be in colleges. Most people who go to college are the people who want to be there, and the people who did well in high school. If a person did well in classes throughout their educational career, they shouldn't be forced to take classes they don't want to take. Teachers are always saying how they want to treat you like an adult, but they treat you like you don't know anything and that your high school diploma is just a piece of paper. People pay to get into college, they should have the right to choose the classes they want to take, classes that will get them the job they desire.
