No Profit from Tusks of Dead Elephant!

The Galgamuwa Tusker, a truly majestic elephant that owned the largest tusks for a living wild elephant in Sri Lanka has died on Nov. 21 tragically.

In a relocation attempt, the floor boards of the lorry used for transporting the captured elephant broke and the tusker died of suffocation. The Tusker from Galgamuwa was to be released to a forest reserve in Siyabalanduwa and later to the Udawalawe Sanctuary.

We ask you to fully investigate this death to see what went so terribly wrong that it cost this animal it's life and what measures in the future can be taken to prevent this while transporting endangered elephants.

We also ask that the elephant be buried intact, assuring that noone in the ivory trade profits from the death of this elephant with the largests tusks in the world.
