THERE SHALL BE NO TAX ON SMS IN PAKISTAN
It is our right to express, but government wants to bound us and compels to pay the price for freedom of expression.
Government is doing nothing except imposing tax on every item, withdrawing subsidy and taking loan either from World Bank, IMF or Friend of Pakistan. The government is not ready even to reduce the price of petrol. Subsidy is also going to withdraw from electricity and other things from July 2009.
Now, SMS (Short Messages Service) are not safe too and came under fire by Finance Advisor Shaukat Tareen. He is of the view that only 20 paisa tax has been imposed on SMS. You know, people today spend extensively on SMS %u2013 even more than that they spend on eating. This is a minimal increase.
According to data collected from the telecom industry, out of 90 million registered cellular customers, over 45 million use the SMS service, each sending an average of seven SMS daily. Daily SMS traffic in the country is estimated at around 315 million and monthly traffic at around one billion.
It shows that government wants to earn monthly Rs. 200 million per month
It is a cruel act by government side. I want to raise our voice so our representatives in the Parliament can take consider and eradicate this tax. If parliament approved the tax, I will try to go even further in the court of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudry.
I need the support of you all people.
Best Wishes & Prayers
