Tell Senator Obama to consider his choice for US Department of Agriculture wisely. GMO Free America!
We the undersigned, humbly ask you to reconsider your choice to head the USDA. Tom Vilsack does not represent the kind of change your campaign promised. His close relationship with Monsanto is a threat to America's Agricultural Industry that over shadow his progressive ideas. Genetically Modified Foods have closed export markets and have been a direct assault on Organic farming across America.

Please take a moment and consider how these products and ideas will effect the future of not only the American Farmer, but also the future generations of consumers and the Global Markets they represent, not to mention the health of their childrens, children.

Mr. Obama, you promised this country "Change" and we expect you to be true to your words. Please reconsider this choice, because the American People are counting on you to make change real, and Tom Vilsack is a change in the wrong direction.

Unnatural foods tainted with pesticides, herbicides and altered via genetic engineering are dangerous to the very health of American citizens. If healthcare costs need to be brought down, a great way to do it would be to eliminate the poisons we take in everyday in our food! Please reconsider your choice for the USDA.

Come on people! Save yourself and your family from the dangers of genetically modified crops! Monsanto, leave our food alone! Stop polluting the environment with genetically modified abominations! I have a degree in Botany, so I understand in depth the implications of genetically modified crops. It is wrong on every level! All the so called advantages turn into disavantages when held under even minor scutiny. Myth: GM foods have higher yields. Truth: Bees don't want to pollinate GM crops, domestic animals will not eat them! This means there will be less grain and what grain there is will be wasted as the animals do not want to eat them. More synthetic fertilizer is required to grow GM crops than non-GM crops. Fertilizer is expensive!

Pres. Obama. Please reconsider your decisions on gmo's in agriculture! Positive thinking from you has done wonders in other areas of green thinking. Agriculture is vital. Please protect our seed heritage, biodiversity and right to healthy living! I believe this to be THE biggest issue in politics today. Thank you, Nina Kai Metzler-Puhipau and family

Stop the insanity!!! We do NOT know the long term results of GE foods, nor do we have any conclusive PROOF that they are safe in the long term, for our ecological system. Why are American farmers/Canadian farmers being SUED by a powerful GE producing corporation? Mother Nature is going to be pretty mad about this one, boys. Open your eyes.

Thousands know what is going on! Monsanto and Cargill want to control the food supply. GMO food is science gone bad! As usual, it's all about GREED!!! Gene splicing chemicals, mice, frogs, fish DNA, etc into the food supply is science fiction, it's disgusting! Leave our food alone!!!

We do not know what health effects GM foods have on us. I find this very disturbing and unnatural. At the very least, we should have a right to choose by making sure GM foods are labeled.

I don not agree with tampering and including GE into organic certification, therfore cannot support anyone who helps this happen.

To nominate Vilsack as Agricultural Secretary is to contradict everything President Obama has acknowledged as wrong with agricultural production in the US, protecting consumers and the environment, and truly inspecting the benefits and drawback of Genetically Modified Organisms. Vilsack is entrenched in the most conservative echelons of agriculture as usual. I say no to Vilsack.

I'm shocked and disgusted by the newly appointed Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. Just when I thought that there was going to be change. I wish I could take my vote back.

We need someone who cares about the environment, public health, animals, and farmers to head the USDA. He is not a good pick.

Vilsack represents all that is wrong with modern industrial agriculture (factory farming): genetic engineering, high density hog raising, corporate control of small farmers, high pesticides. I grew up on a small farm in western Kansas and have experienced the destructiveness of modern industrial agriculture represented by Tom Vilsack. I add my voice to all who fear what he represents in urging that he NOT be confirmed as Secretary of Agriculture.

Tom Vilsack is corporate lobbyist and is not the correct choice for Ag Sec. He is for the unfair NAIS program and Big Agri-business at the expence of Family Farms. We do not need to subsidise corporate farms, we need to produce more food locally without penalizing the small growers of vegatables and meat. Grown Local is greener, more sustainable and healthier. NO to Tom Vilsack!

The very last thing we need is irresponsible big agribusiness and pharma running the USDA!! Support local organic farmers!

Tom Vilsack is the wrong man at the wrong time for this job. There are so many more and better qualified people who really understand where agriculture and food need to go--and it isn't bioengineering!! Please pick one of the many progressives who have been recommended to you-- not Tom Vilsack-- he just doesn't get it!

I strongly stand against the use of GMO's. Not only has it been proven that they have a negative and lasting effect on humans and other living organisms, but they also negatively impact and alter the natural environment of both the farm producing the GMO's, as well as surrounding farm land. President Elect Obama's decision to appoint Tom Vilsack to the USDA is both disheartening and irresponsible.

Under no circumstances WHATSOEVER should genetically engineered crops come into contact with food crops. ˇFOOD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PHARMACEUTICALS!

Mr. President, Tom Vilsack does not have the best interests of either people or planet in mind. GMOs have such a far-reaching negative impact on our environment that supports all life. We urge you to appoint a Secretary of Agriculture who knows it is possible to grow an abundance of food supply that is healthy for people, planet and the economy, and sustainable for the long-term. 7 Generations from now, Americans and all citizens of planet Earth can and should have a variety of healthy, natural, sustainable foods available to them. Supporters of GMOs like Tom Vilsack seriously lack the creativity, vision and generosity that all of your appointees should have. Thank you for finding a more appropriate pro-Organics choice.

It makes no sense to name someone Sec. of Ag who is strongly supportive of GMOs. GMOs will destroy our seed base leaving no pure plants. GMOs will create weeds that are not affected by pesticides. GMOs have not been adequately tested and those tests that have been done and made public should dire treats from using the seeds as feed. Monsanto is one of the most corrupt corportations when it comes to buying off officials and newspaper editors. Tom Vilsack was part of Monsanto
