Australian's - Say NO! to Live Export & NO! to the labour government!

  • by: Shaylee LIttle
  • recipient: Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Julia Gillard, MP

The public response to the Four Corners expose has been so overwhelming and in just three days, over 200,000 Australians have joined a GetUp petition to the Government to stop live export.

But the Gillard Government's only token response so far has been to suspend supply to the 11 abattoirs that were visited in Animals Australia's investigation. This will do nothing to help animals who are destined for any one of the other 100-odd abattoirs that kill Australian animals in equally horrendous ways every night throughout Indonesia. Cattle are still leaving Australia for Indonesia and the Gillard Government is now directly complicit in animal cruelty (Animals Australia 2011).

The Australian people have spoken and the government is NOT LISTENING TO US! The number of people touched, sickened and outraged by this brutality is increasing, the support for this protest has been phenomenal. As a group that has banded together, the people of Australia who support this cause have raised almost $300,000, which proves we are a force to be reckoned with and we will not sit down, we will not weaken, we will STAND UP and fight for these animals!

We were indeed disgraced and mortified with the footage of these Aussie cows being taunted, exploited and cruelly had their bones as well as their spirits broken when they were already facing death, so we have decided that if the government will not listen, then we feel it only fair to give our votes (in the next federal and local elections) to someone who may.

This petition has been signed by Australian resident%u2019s of voting eligibility and of voting age who are willing to vote for any other party but LABOUR in the next election.

We have begun to question whether this government really has the voter%u2019s best interests at heart.

"Not all of us can do great things. But we can all do small things with great love%u201D. (Mother Teresa)

WE WILL NOT VOTE LABOUR IN THE NEXT FEDERAL ELECTION BECAUSE THE LABOUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE BY ENDING THE LIVE EXPORT OF ANIMALS FROM AUSTRALIA.

(This can be used as an indication for the government and will gauge the amount of votes that will be lost for LABOUR in the next federal election due to Julia Gillard not listening to the people she is supposed to be representing)
