Please sign if you are tired of your children's and your own rights being taken from you by those whom were elected by YOU! This UNIFORM policy takes all the life out of children and their individuality! Even with the current dress code, violence has become worse than before the dress code! Please tell our Board that we will make them listen to us THE PARENTS and that their own personal motives will not be tolerated!
Let them know you are tired of all their actions, that cost the parents and not themselves.

I believe that students should have the right to show who they are by the way the dress. I do however believe that there should be a dress code in effect, but the dress code that is now effect completely destroys their ability to show their individuality. Remember that they are still children and by taking their sense of who they are away you could destroy who they are. Not to mention the countless extra dollars that parents must now spend on clothes for their children to wear to school that the students would not wear outside of school because it does not show who they are. And not every family can afford this for their children, so isn't that leaving children behind? School is to help mold a child's mind not tell them how to dress. So please take this advice to heart.

Uniforms will not solve the problems that exist in JMCSS.
It is a futile attempt at discipline when in fact it will have no effect and cause numerous families unnecessary expense to buy specific clothes.

If you want to keep the current dress code that is fine, but to dictate where you can purchase student clothing is wrong there should be several sources available. Uniforms will not solve any of this school system's problems and would cause an undue finacial hardship on lots of people. This propsal is NOT supported by the majority of parents or students within this school system. Please allow parents of the children attending Jackson Madison County Schools to vote on important matters as the dress code. My son doesn't wear a uniform and he does excellent in school! It is unconsionable that they would take away the parents' rights and opinions and not even consider how their constituants feel.

It is unconsionable that they would take away the parents' rights and opinions and not even consider how their constituants feel. If there is a problem with children not following the rules now, it will be no different when uniforms are worn.

I've had four kids go thru the public system and they all excelled. But it was not due to a uniform. Putting kids in a uniform will not make a child a better student and it will not stop the violence. Parental and neighborhood involvement is the only solution to these problems. We have had two dress codes now and that hasn't worked. Why do you think that a uniform will???

Parents should be involved from the beginning when things involve our children. I think the dress code for this year is alright but this new proposal is taking it a bit far. Think about you and how you would have felt as a child. Are you going to pay for these clothese? I really think these important matters should be brought up during another time other than the summer. I don't get the Jackson Sun. A friend called me or I wouldn't of even known about this.

This propsal is NOT supported by the majority of parents or students within this school system. This policy does nothing to further quality education. This School Board is forcing it's will on the people for no logical reason. Clothes do not make the person, nor can this Board with these ridiculous proposals that do nothing to help the students.

If you want to keep the current dress code that is fine, but to dictate where you can purchase student clothing is wrong there should be several sources available. (Walmart ONLY, some families refuse to shop at Walmart. Will Walmart keep the required clothing in all sizes year around? Children grow, mine has grown about 5 inches in height in the last 6 months. At this growth rate, we will be forced to purchase these uniforms every two to three months) Allowing only two colors of shirts and one color of pants or shorts is too restrictive and will not keep students from wearing baggy clothes and clothing that is too tight.
Our economy is suffering, they expect gas prices and food prices and the cost of heating and cooling our homes to continue to escalate and the added burden of buying an extra set of clothing for every child will be too much for many, many families. You have to realize that as soon as they arrive home they will be changing into something else because you are taking all choice and selection of clothing away. This is wrong, I do not support it.
When these children do graduate they will not know how to dress appropriately because you have inflicted a mandate on them of only being allowed to wear a very restricted dress code. Some say that this will help with gangs, baloney, in prison systems they wear uniforms only and the gangs thrive. Seems to me all this accomplishes is an added work load to the parents that will have to wash the extra clothing and you are going to make the students miserable by making them wear such boring clothing. White stains too easily, black is hot and shows dirt and lint more than any other color. Not to mention the monotony of dullness in lack of color will not inspire these kids. You have demonstrated poor choice in what is proposed to be allowed. We have a PUBLIC school system, this is not a PRIVATE school system and you need to quit trying to make it look like Private schools. A lot of families depend on hand-me-downs to dress their children, and just so you know hand-me-downs are FREE, others go to yard sales, Goodwill, RIFA and shop where bargain basement sales are available.
In order to help the financially stressed families, our state laws demand that you offer them assistance, just how are you going to do that, I thought our education system was already financially stressed, will there be job cuts to justify helping these students aquire these uniforms? Surely you are not going to try to ask for more money to support a uniform policy, when our children need that money spent on improving their education. Please do not vote for this Uniform Policy, if it passes you will not keep some of your higher scoring students, many have already left our school system for private schools, some feel if they are going to be forced to make their children wear a uniform they might as well send them to Private school.
Our school system does not need to have to pay for the clothing for the students whose families suffer from financial hardship and if you vote for a mandatory uniform policy you MUST by law give them financial aid or the clothing to wear.
