Councilman Wesson's office is proposing the installation of tree guards along Pico Boulevard between Fairfax & La Brea.
Similar tree guards were recently installed along Washington Boulevard (see photo to the left) and the surrounding community is very unhappy with them because they have become magnets for graffiti.
We applaud Councilman Wesson's interest in beautification efforts for Pico, but we believe funding should be allocated to more beneficial projects such as repair of curbs and sidewalks, replacement of dead or non-thriving street trees, installation of landscaped medians, etc.
By signing this petition you will be adding your voice to the number of people objecting to this project.
Thank you.

We the undersigned oppose the installation of tree guards along Pico Blvd. between La Cienega & LaBrea Blvd., in Los Angeles, CA.
Although we applaud CD10's interest in beautification efforts for Pico Blvd, we do not like the aesthetic of tree guards and would rather see the use of these funds directed toward other beautification or safety projects for our area. Such projects include, but are not limited to, curb repair, surveillance cameras, tree replacement along Pico with sycamores and golden crowns, mulching and planting, etc.
We signed the "Stop the Installation of Tree Guards Along Pico" petition!

What a waste of tax payers money not only is it unesthetic but downright ugly. Has little value and creates an eyesoar

Mr. Wesson,
Those dollars can be better spent on other projects. Those that I have seen along Washington Blvd are "Too Much and are very tacky." I would prefer they not be done in my area.

these tree stakes are just horrific. Im sure we can come up with a better option than these prison bars.

What are these tree guards guarding? Use the money to plant AND MAINTAIN more trees.

Tree planting is key to the improvements along Pico, but the tree guards run counter to that effort. They will make it appear that the neighborhood is unsafe because even our trees need to live behind bars. And they will provide taggers with new surfaces to tag, adding to rather than diminishing the area's problems.

No good reason to spend money on this; use money elsewhere, as suggested, please

Another stupid idea. little tree prisons....No more wasting taxpayers money please. Stop this and all spending initiatives that are clearly, a dumb move.
WORK ON TRAFFIC ISSUES LIKE FAIFAX, SAN VICENTE/OLYMPIC INTERSECTION WHICH IS A NIGHTMARE PICO/LA CIENEGA IS PRETTY BAD TOO.

This is a hairbrained scam to waste more of the taxpayers' money. Totally usless, with ongoing maintance expense.
And TOTALLY USLESS to the public.

The intent is in the right place, but tree guards aren't the way. As our neighborhood continues to improve, the focus should be more on cleaning up what's already here. The tree guards are unattractive, prime targets for taggers, and relatively useless. Let's keep cleaning up and fixing what's already here and continue to make this neighborhood safer and more attractive in more effective ways!

Unfortunately, the tree guards look liked little prisons for the trees and takes away from the beauty of the tree.

Our community has really been going through a revitalization. More often I find myself dining at one of the outdoor cafes along Pico Blvd. I do this because it somehow seems safer and nicer now. Tree guards, to me, are a sign of danger. That we can't trust the people either in our neighborhood, or coming into our neighborhood not to vandalize the area. Things like tree guards will push my business north to Wilshire or other attractive, safe, nearby areas.

Tree guards do not add beauty. Please don't make the streets uglier with tree guards.

Not only do they look terrible, but I certainly don't want to see more graffiti and this gives those taggers a canvas to work with.

Councilman Wesson,
I believe funding for this project would be better suited for sidewalk repair and landscaping needs. While the intentions are good, I feel this will lead yet to another eyesore.
Thanks for your time.
