The press is abuzz with talk of Senator Joe Biden as Obama's likely VP pick today. Here are a few reasons why we urge Obama to just say no to Joe:
Iraq War: Biden voted for the war. Change we can believe in?
Bankruptcy Reform bill of 2005: Biden voted for the Bankruptcy Abuse and Prevention Act, which Obama opposed, and also voted against key amendments supported by Senate Dems. Why? Because he represents his state's corporations - credit card companies - over citizens.
Clarence Thomas: Biden was Senate Judiciary Chair during the Anita Hill hearings and Thomas' appointment. 'Nuff said.
Biden supporters claim his vast foreign policy knowledge would boost the ticket, but Biden does not hold a patent on foreign policy experience. And while Biden's wit and loose tongue can be refreshing at times, it is the last thing Obama needs in this campaign. There are plenty of true progressive Obama could choose for the ticket who would represent real change - Biden is not one of them.

We the undersigned are underwhelmed by the prospect of Senator Joe Biden as your Vice Presidential candidate. We believe Biden's foreign policy knowledge is his only strength, and his depth of knowledge and experience in this arena are not unique. His record on supporting credit card companies over consumers, his vote for the Iraq War, and his failure as Senate Judiciary Chair during the Clarence Thomas - Anita Hill hearings, however, are all strong reasons to reject him as a potential running mate.
We signed the "Obama: Just Say No to Joe" petition!

Senator Biden would not be an asset to the ticket. I have listened to him speak in many Senate hearings, and he strikes me as an egomaniac who talks to hear his voice. Compared with Obama and his eloquent public speaking, Biden seems like a joke. Plus, we don't need someone with a long list of Senate votes to pick over - we need real change for this ticket.
