Oprah do a show on pets, shelters, puppy mills etc..
I do not think that people should get dogs from puppy mills. There are fantastic animals at the SPCA. If people were made aware of the cruelty of puppy mills, they would be more likely to adopt from the Humane Society.
i bought my beautiful cute puppy from a pet store and she was obviously from a puppy mill and i can imagine what happened to her before i started spoiling her. It kills me.
My 13-year-old daughter has been volunteering for our local SPCA since October 2008, not because she has to but because she wants to. She idolizes famous dog trainer Victoria Stilwell and would like to be a Veterinarian when she is older. She has learned the importance of spaying and neutering pets and is firmly against puppy mills. We encourage Oprah to do this show and wish we could be in the audience for it!
I am a huge animal lover and I hate to see animals abused and neglected! We need to help the animal shelters in our areas to save these animals and put them in forever loving homes.
i am a owner of a 3lbs tea cup maltese and the other night i saw a show with mr. ceaser millan about puppy mills and how cruel these people treat these puppies and it truly broke my heart, but know i want to buy another puppy but i am kind of scare cause i do not want to support these kind of puppy mills, so please do a show on these kind of cases so the public can be aware of what is going on.
how can a person like me know for sure that i am not supporting these kind of puppy mills by purchasing these puppies.
Hello, Thank you for helping so many people and our heros the dogs. I just learned trained dogs are able to help detect early diabetis by smelling urine. How many ways will dogs continue to save our lives. I'm asking for help to stop puppy mills,that take away opportunities for training new discoveries in human. They are our heros.
It is a advertised fact that the Amish are some of worse absuers, and did you know that they are tax enempt? Therefore, money is no object to them, in buying the best race horses available, and hire lobbyist (people who buy the vote of the highest bidder) to stop legislations wording and coming before the legislation for a vote. Since Ms. Winfrey is such an animal lover, I would like to suggest an option to help so many animals in need...A Contest of sorts, for someone with the animal's best care at heart.... I would love to compete with anyone for the chance to have a boarding and adoption facility of my own...with the boarding facility paying for the largest part of the adoption facility...I also do pet photography which can also bring income into the facility...I can groom the animals to help their chances of getting adopted...I work for a veternarian, so I would have access to the finest medical care....please let me know if Oprah might be interested in supporting such a facility in the louisiana area...when it is a success, then we can train others to do the same thing accross the nation...thanks, starla
I am signing this petition in hope that Oprah Winfrey will once again do a show on puppy mill, the 4 million dogs and 7 million cats euthanize each year because of breeding and not neutering or spraying pets. I cried for two days and I am an activist now because of the previous show so I hope more people will be educated.
I want Oprah to show the picture of the landfill of pets because we refuse of stop breeding them, neutering or spraying them or adopt at a shelter. A segment on how to make a difference would help too: transporting last chance pet to a no kill shelter, spreading the word by wearing awareness t-shirt, etc.,
Dear Oprah, I am very concerned about the welfare of animals in our state. We have so many problems with cats running, but our town doesn't have any cat control so the police tell us to kill them or set them free. also I was just reading a thing on the net about our states policies on research with pets and it was adopted in 1949 and is still a law today it is after 5 days they hand animals over to "researchers to do whatever they will with them even family pets!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY WOULD DO THESE THINGS IN THE NAME OF RESEARCH. I believe in research as well but not on pets that trust us ! please look into this law as there are only 2 states left that practice this and Minnesota is one of them . I never thought you have to have a tag on your pet that says "NOT FOR RESEARCH " OR THEY COULD DO WHATEVER THEY WANT WITH IT . BUT I GUESS I HAVE TO PURCHASE 5 TAGS TODAY FOR ALL MY ANIMALS . IN THE EVENT THEY HAPPEN TO GET AWAY OR LOST .This is called pound seizure law and I cannot believe this is happening today .cAN YOU PLEASE HELP OUR STATE TO ABOLISH THIS LAW OR AT LEAST MAKE PEOPLE AWARE TO PUT TAGS ON THEIR PETS SO WE DON'T DO THIS TO THE ANIMALS WHO DEPEND ON US . I wonat and end to this and force people who want a pet to use a real breeder or go to a shelter. People buy pets they tgink are certain breeds from a pet store (puppy mill) and they are not even getting the right breeds they thought they were buying.

I agree that not enough is done for pets. As a community, there needs to be more attention brought to the cause, and not just euthanize after they've been at a facility for so long. They should only euthanize if its a life of death situation, not because the shelters need room.
We as american's need to take care of the animals in our county. We need to help all animals not just the cute little puppies and kittens.
Where people can take animals that are hurt or just a check up. With the way our world is today we need more resorces for pet owners and pets! Please lets all come together and take care of the animals.
I have been rescuing/fostering dogs for many years. It is unbelievable the horrible conditions animals are kept in puppymill operations and backyard breeding. Not to mention the thousands and thousands that are abandoned and abused by their so called owners and caregivers. There is not a person alive who could research this field or be involved in it that wouldn't break down and cry. It is the most shocking and appauling circumstance imaginable for these animals. I currently foster 9 dogs and have had as many as fifteen any given time. I have three little maltese gals who were raised out of doors and had not people contact their entire lives except when giving birth. They are five pound maltese. It has taken them four years to trust me enough to snuggle and approach me.
after seeing that show with the extraordinary glen close,i suddenly have to do something two so i decide to adopt a abandon cat from our own shelter here in quebec that way,i will do my part to rescue an animal that deserve another chance...and i am so glad !!!
I am signing this position because I want to increase the awareness of the need for rescue shelters for animals. There are thousands of unwanted animals running the streets, we need to make people aware of the need to spay and neuter, keeping up with shots and simply allowing our animals a safe, healthy environment.
Showing animal shelters on Oprah's show would really shed some light on their growing need. There are just too many animals for shelters to handle and more support is crucial.
I find spaying and neutering our pets important because if we get an overpopulation of animals and not all of them will have a loving home, then that animal's life will be in danger. We shouldn't want a death of an animal unable to be adopted.
I would also like to see Oprah do a show on how pets can make a difference in someone's life and can be important to anyone. Those who don't like animals... It would be nice to see them end up loving them.
I believe animals have rights too. They should be treated like one of the family and not disposable
spay/neuter. Explain the other health issues associated with not spay/neuter besides animal control. Disease and behavior issues are affected by spay/neuter. Female cats especially get "breast cancer" if not spayed

We are so involved in big pictures that sometimes we forget the little ones that actually are big , like the animals that have absolulty no say in anything. If animals had a voice, we probably would treat them alot better!
Please do a show on pet adoption, anything that you can do to advertise adopting pets would be a wonderful thing. So many people look up to you. Adopting instead of buying full bread animals can save so many animal lives. Please help!
I am signing this petition because I believe that Spaying & Neutering is an extremely important issue for America's pets. Oprah can make a HUGE impact in reducing the number of homeless pets by persuading Americans to spay and neuter their animals, thus reducing the number of homeless animals and reducing euthanasia of millions of cats and dogs in American animal shelters every year.

I would like someone to address the growing problem of animal abuse dogs ,cats and horses and others are increasingly being abused and even killed someone really need to address this issue right away and to push for stiffer penalty's for the crime even jail, we should have a companion law instead of them being property
I am the office manager of a no-kill animal shelter in Jackson, MS. I would love to see Oprah do a show regarding shelters and the needs they have. My organization (Community Animal Rescue & Adoption - CARA), has 2 fantastic dogs named Oprah & Harpo. They both came in covered in mange and are now the prettiest things you ever saw.

I love dogs and I hate puppy mills and pet stores that sell dogs. I did a speech on why to not buy a dog from a pet store. I think people need to be educated on where pet store dogs come from and the horrors of puppy mills.
On breed specific legislation and also where a good place to get a dog is (responsible breeder, shelter, rescue).
Oprah informs a lot of people and I think it would be a wonderful idea if she did another show on puppy mills.
Dog fighting and how to blame the deed not the breed. Not all pit bulls are aggressive. I own a pit and he doesn't have one bit of aggression in him.

As an animal advocate, I think it is highly necessary that Oprah do another show featuring puppy mills. So many people are unaware of the horrors behind the cute dog in the window, or how these animals are treated just for human profit. Not many people are as enlightened as we (the petition signers) are, and it is extremely important that people take a step back and realize what they are supporting by simply walking through the doors of a pet shop.
I'd also like Oprah to feature the genetic diseases and explore the deplorable conditions and inbreeding that takes place at such institutions, as well as the many other reprocussions of owning a store-bought dog, IE, the inability to keep weight on them, lack of socialization, and how they are treated in the stores.
It's very important that people take the time to look at where there puppy is coming from. I feel the Oprah show made a lot of people open their eyes on pet store puppies etc. I think another show would help!
