OSPCA MUST BE INVESTIGATED AND MADE ACCOUNTABLE

IN LIGHT OF THE FINDINGS BY INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATORS PERTAINING TO THE OSPCA RINGWORM CATASTROPHE IN NEWMARKET ,WHICH FOUND OSPCA TO BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AS SET OUT BY THE THE COLLEGE OF VETERINARIANS OF ONTARIO WHICH INCLUDED, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, A PATTERN OF CONTINUAL BREECH AND DISREGARD OF POLICY, PROCEDURE AND LAW SUCH AS:

Inadequate record keeping of animals brought into the ospca Newmarket shelter.

Inadequate record keeping of animals killed and/or euthanized;

Inadequate record keeping of controlled drugs and medication;

Absence of even the "Minimum Standard" for the care and compassion of animals as specified in the Animals for Research Act and the Pound Act;

Inadequate training of supervisors and staff;

Allowing the killing of animals to be carried out by staff and/or auxillary personnel without direct or immediate supervision of a registered veterinarian;

Inadequate performance and unacceptable services carried out regarding the most basic procedures such as using a mercury thermometer on animals instead of a digital thermometer with no regard to consequences of breakage and recommending a thermometer be inserted 3" into the rectum of a dog;

Inadequate regard for health hazards;

Continual cover up of the facts and publicly misleading donors and the public with blatant lies regarding all aspects of the events which took place on or around May 11, 2010;

We the undersigned demand that Premier Dalton McGuinty immediately fire senior management Jim Sykes, Kate MacDonald, Tanya Firmage;

We the undersigned demand the Ontario Government compel Rob Godfrey, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the entire Board of Directors to step down immediately;

We demand positions at the senior management level be filled by people with experience in animal health & welfare, animal shelters and/or animal husbandry;

We demand the Board of Directors include members of the public who have experience in animal health & welfare, rescue and fostering of animals and not officers from branches or affiliates of the OSPCA as we believe this is a conflict of interest;

We further demand that criminal charges be laid against senior staff and management who ordered/directed or were complicit in the senseless and cruel killing of 102 animals at OSPCA Headquarters, Newmarket, leading up to and around May 2010;

We further demand that a forensic audit be conducted on the finances and spending of OSPCA Headquarters in Newmarket

We further demand an investigation be ordered into the charity status of OSPCA

The OSPCA now stands for Ontario Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals
This must be stopped.

We demand the task force outlined by Minister Jim Bradley on June 3, 2011 be done post haste and made up of those with experience in animal health & welfare, animal rescue, animal shelters and animal husbandry

Anything less than the aforementioned is not acceptable.

Mr. McGuinty it is time for you to step up to the plate and correct this horrendous error your government has continually ignored.

People of Ontario want action against OSPCA now.
