Our Lax Laws need IMMEDIATE ammending

THERE HAVE BEEN 80 HOMICIDES ALREADY THIS YEAR AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO END IN SIGHT!
CHILDREN BEING GUNNED DOWN ON OUR STREETS, IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND IN THEIR HOMES. INNOCENT VICTIM AFTER INNOCENT VICTIM, SHATTERED FAMILY AFTER SHATTERED FAMILY.
INNOCENT LIVES ARE BEING STOLEN FROM OUR STREETS AT AN ALARMING RATE AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE CHANGING!
We can all write on facebook walls that we need change, we can all tell our co-workers how we think this is a problem, we can call into television shows and voice our opinion, but none of what we are saying is being heard by those who really need to hear us!
WE NEED TO SEND OUR MESSAGES DIRECTLY TO ALL THREE LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT!!!
THE MUNICIPAL, PROVINCIAL AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEED TO HEAR OUR CONCERNS!
Gun control is not the simple solution our government would have you believe, it is a band-aid to cover up a much larger problem.
The real issue is that the consequences for gun violence - especially if you are a young offender - are lax at best! There needs to be real consequences for carrying, brandishing or using a gun!
Knowing that simply carrying a gun can result in a very lengthy prison term may be the deterrent some of these punks need. When there are no prison terms and little or no consequences, what is going to encourage today's troubled youth to refrain from joining a gang or carrying a gun?
What example is being set when a young offender, tried as an adult for murder, is offered the chance of parole and a life back on the streets at 27 years old? Fully educated for free (thanks to our tax dollars) and still young enough to have a family, a young murderer can enjoy the rest of their life in freedom while a family is forever shattered by their actions.
THIS IS NOT JUSTICE!
WE DEMAND THE YOUTH JUSTICE ACT BE ABOLISHED!
WE DEMAND TOUGHER LAWS, MORE CONSEQUENCES AND LESS PRIVILEGES WHILE INCARCERATED!
CRIMINALS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!
THE PEOPLE OF CANADA DEMAND TOUGHER GUN LAWS AND LONGER PRISON TERMS FOR CRIMES COMITTED WITH GUNS!
WE ARE NO LONGER ASKING, WE ARE NO LONGER SIMPLY VENTING.....
WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT OF POWER IF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO US....
WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO BE SAFE!
WE WANT OUR CITY TO BE SAFE! WE WANT OUR COUNTRY TO BE SAFE!

So far, in 2007, Toronto has been home to over 80 homicides. Many of these have been young people being murdered by guns. There has been a child murdered in his school, a teenage boy shot at a dance competition in front of hundreds of witnesses; a young man shot in front of a plaza and schools in broad daylight, and another teenage boy shot right in the driveway of his own home....
Where are our children safe? Not in their school, not in community centers, not in public and not even in their own homes! This is TERRIFYING! We MUST act quickly and swiftly to enact severe and immediate changes to our laws so that we can protect our children. We must abolish the protection of the Youth Justice Act for Intentional and Deliberate Killings committed by youths and we must insist on longer prison terms for convicted criminals. Parole for convicted murderers should not even be an option.
If our society continues to spiral out of control, nobody will be safe...not even your children.
