Our military fights for us, now we must fight for them!

  • recipient: President Obama, the Attorney General of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate and the Clerk of the United States Supreme Court

Let’s stand up and fight for the rights of legally married military service members and their families.

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network Executive Director, Aubrey Sarvis says it best, “These (same sex) couples are in long term, committed, and legally recognized marriages, and the military should not be forced to turn its back on them because the federal government refuses to recognize their families.”

SLDN filed a lawsuit to require the military provide same-sex married couples with the same benefits and family support as their straight, married peers. We the people have, the Obama administration has, our military, our congress and the courts have an obligation to honor the service of legally married gay and lesbian members of our military.

The Attorney General of the United States should simply choose NOT to fight SLDN’s lawsuit in court! The time has come for Full Equality!

Mr. President, I ask you to please instruct the Attorney General NOT oppose SLDN’s lawsuit to win equal recognition, benefits and family support for equal sacrifice and service in the U.S. Armed Forces. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, are all legally married and want the armed services to recognize their families and receive the same family support and benefits for their same-sex spouses that the services and Department of Veterans Affairs provide to opposite-sex spouses.
