Our Morning Ritual

"Today, We Former Edge 103.9 listeners salute…….THAT GUY! You know the guy which just this week fired his top rated morning show jock to bring in a nationally syndicated radio show that has been twice cancelled by other stations in the valley!
Instead of keeping one of the funniest host in valley radio history on your station, that guy decided to abandon the “independent radio” label that he work so hard three years ago to perfect, and sell out to the man and bring in a “shock jock” for a few bucks saved on the company payroll, and to get what he thinks will be a few extra points in the Arbitron ratings for morning drive time.
Right now, that guy is sitting in his cushy office, in his plush leather chair counting the immediate savings to the “bottom line”. But what that guy doesn’t realize that his bone-headed decision could cost his station even more money that he is saving in lost ratings, lost sponsorship, and lost respect in the station that broke away from the corporate ownership trend and vowed to listen to its listeners here in the valley. In fact, that guy tried this once before and found out what a HUGE mistake it was!
That guy feels that the station will gain more brain-dead male chauvinistic listeners in the 18 to 25 age group then he will lose in all the other age groups!
At this time, that guy is sitting back thumbing his nose at all the loyal “Morning Ritual” listeners. That Guy's saying “I’d rather be that guy than keeps his listeners happy and says ‘screw the big bucks that running Adam Corolla will bring the station dude’”.
Well First off, this letter isn't called, “I’d rather be that guy than keeps his listeners happy and says ‘screw the big bucks that running Adam Corolla will bring the station dude’”; it’s called THAT GUY!
Second, Adam Corolla is not that damn funny! In fact, he is a chauvinistic *** who most entertaining thing he has done in the past 5 years is embarrass himself by riding a unicycle on “Dancing with the Stars”!!! There is a reason his show has been cancelled twice in the valley……IT SUCKS!!!!
So if you think the core of what had been loyal Edge 103.9 listeners will continue to listen to your station at ANY TIME…you are sadly mistaken!!!
So if this letter offends you at any way, there is a good reason why…….YOU’RE THAT GUY!!!"
To the Executives of Riviera Broadcasting -
I have been an avid listener of The Edge ever since its days on 106.3 and 100.3. I praise it as the best, and almost only alternative rock station in the valley, as many do. Through all of the changes its gone through, I
have stuck by it, even if I do sometimes question some of the drastic alterations. Not necessarily to the format, but to the integrity of the "Independant Radio" label you have boasted for so many years now.
I have especially been a fan, as most of your listeners have, of Chuck Powell's Morning Ritual, which you have recently decided to drop. I am told that it is because of ratings and financial issues. Chuck Powell has since been replaced by Adam Carolla, who had been cancelled in this state previously.
I know I'm not the only one who feels this to be a slap in the face of the people who keep The Edge 103.9 up and running.
I understand that you are a business. As such, you have certain standards for ratings and revenue that you need to uphold. The problem with this action taken is that most of your listeners disagree with your rash decision.
I myself have been turning my radio to different stations for other morning shows since the change. I will continue to do so as long as
Adam Carolla is on your station. I am a delivery driver, and I listen alot during the morning. Which is why I am voicing my opinion regarding this issue.
By sending you this petition we have hopes that you will hear our plea to bring Chuck Powell's Morning Ritual back to your airwaves.
His program was truly OUR morning ritual.
Please don't take away the best morning show this valley had to offer. I enjoyed his program so much, I actually told friends out of state to lisen to him online. He is more talented than anyone I've heard in the valley, and outside of the state. Your making a big mistake by taking him off the air.
I know that Chuck said he didn't want people making a fuss over him, but he deserves it. The valley misses its morning ritual.
