Anyone who believes in the merit of basic human rights should sign this. To stand against discrimination against those with Asperger's Syndrome, ASD and High Functioning Autism.
The truth of the matter is simple, Asperger's Syndrome does not, in and of it's self, hinder one's ability to effectively parent their children. And therefore by relation their parenting rights, as those with prejudices and ignorance's of this condition would have the Courts and other's believe.
Take a stand against the ignorance of Asperger's Syndrome, High Functioning Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder and let the B.C. Supreme Courts (and the United States Supreme Courts) know we the people won't stand for this discrimination and abuse of our Parental rights, in our society or in the Courts.
We the undersigned, of the Autism and Asperger's and Nuerotypical communities have come together to stand against the discrimination face by those with Asperger's syndrome and High Functioning Autism in the B.C. Supreme Courts.
Namely, one Nathan Hov, who in part, has been discriminated against due to his recent diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome and High functioning Autism. As such his parenting rights have been obstructed, when nothing within his diagnosis has hindered his abilities to be an effective parent. Further he has effectively been the main parent to his child since the day of her birth, and has had the bulk majority of time with his daughter.
Those with neurological differences should not be punished, Nor should we have our Parenting Rights hindered or obstructed by the Courts.
To inform the Courts, Parents with Asperger's Syndrome are often more attentive, loyal, caring and patient with their children. People with Asperger's have a keen ability to have dedicated focus for long periods of time and as such, are innately keen to having a higher focus on their Children's safety and health and education.
I have found this to be a truth in my case being the main Parent to my daughter since her birth in 2009. And have spend the bulk majority of with her. To further this point. Autism has been found to have genetic components passed on to children. With the recurrence rates in Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism as stated by Author, Speaker and Professor Ph.D.Tony Attwood are 25% in father and 50% in mothers.
And who could be better fit to raise a child with a strong likelihood of Asperger's Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, than one who has an acute understanding of it's benefits' and challenges.
We the undersigned kindly request the removal of any and all restrictions and obstructions to Nathan Hovs Parenting rights and other's who would be affected by the courts decisions. Further we ask for a full reinstatement of all of his Parenting rights and terms.
