Pass Container Deposit Legislation in Minnesota

Target:
Governor Pawlenty and the Minnesota State Legislature
The time for a bottle bill in Minnesota has come! Bottle deposits help to supply recycled materials for a high-demand market, create jobs, and reduce waste. A container deposit bill takes the responsibility of dealing with container waste off of the taxpayer and transfers it to beverage producers and consumers. Unfortunately, Minnesota has fallen behind 11 other states when it comes to passing a container deposit law. This doesn't make sense! Bottle deposit legislation is an obvious and important step to dealing with Minnesota's waste stream and should not be delayed any longer. Sign this petition to let your legislature know that you are ready for a bottle bill!

Minnesota has a history of leading the nation on conservation issues. However, we've fallen behind 11 other states on passing bottle deposit legislation! We the undersigned are asking the government of Minnesota to pass container recycling legislation in order to reduce our waste, create jobs, and take the cost of beverage container waste off of the taxpayer. The people of Minnesota are ready. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
