Pass Senate Bill 141

Pass Senate Bill 141

Target:
Delaware Senate Insurance and Elections Committee

SB 141 will enact legislation to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and would guarantee civil rights to all Delawareans.

Jack says SB 141 is also important for our state's economy:

"Corporate leaders, particularly those participating in the 'knowledge economy,' have recognized they will be unable to attract the employee talent they need if potential workers are not satisfied that companies are committed to equal rights. These are the kind of new economy companies Delaware is trying hard to recruit and grow. "

Fourteen states and more than 150 cities and counties have laws prohibiting employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Let's make Delaware a better place. Please make your voice heard.

Who am I to tell somebody that they cannot work at a certain place because of any circumstances? Who are you to deny a person a part of their freedom and choice because of a stereotype they did not choose to live with. Everybody needs to mind their own damn business. Anybody who sees this crime as enything less than cold hard discrimination is a fool. Prohibiting employment based on ANYTHING is a crime. Live and let live, people!!!

Why should we as a human race discriminate against people who are of different sexual orientations? Some of my students and colleagues, friends, etc., have been gay/lesbian. I don't see how one's orientation is such a choice. Do people wake up one day and say, "Gosh, I think I will be gay/lesbian today. I think I want to have others discriminate against me." No, of course they do not. One of my students a few years back told me how he had a crush on his karate instructor when he was 10. Why don't we focus on our similarities more instead of on our differences? Let's love and care about each other while we can . . .

why can't we as human beings treat those with alternative lifestyles with the same dignity and care as we would our own children? its sick to say one group has rights but the other group doesnt just because they dont live life like the majority.

It's terrible that there has to be a petition to ask for what should be a basic right and I'm shocked that this sort of discrimination is still allowed to exist.

Not only Delaware, but ALL of the UNITED States should support humans regardless of orientations that are not directly influencing their professional life. It is no one's business to judge.
