people for a gas tax in america

 As concerned citizens, We are writing to you to present an idea , that We think will have duel
            benefits , or triple, both for the health of America, to decrease the budget deficit, and national
            debt.
              This idea came from Copenhagen Denmark , where the govt. chose to create a six dollar gas tax, which lead to one third of the vehicles on the roads being bicycles. 
             They have whole complete bike lanes that allow for passing within the lanes of one bike to another, that are safe and
            efficient means of travel.
              I think this is what we need to do here in america as well. ( even if we do it gradually 50 cents per two years until we get used to it and have time to buy alternative)
 Besides obviously collecting more tax money, the tax revenues generated could fund research and development of alternative vehicles, fund better bike and three wheel scooter lanes, and improve public transportation. 
  poor people who do not live on the bus lines would be given a voucher to purchase alternative three wheel scooter, which initally would be a grant and later be covered by the tax money created.
    this would additionally help the american economy, by creating a sizable market for alternative vehicles, and road construction which would generate american jobs, and employ thousands of people. 
                 Also we will reduce our dependency on foreign oil, which is the drive for the future, as oil is a 
            limited resource, not to mention the health of America and the world with less carbon pollution, save lives and money from the reduced need of foreign oil, 
            less greenhouse effects, and less greenhouse gases, to reduce the greenhouse effect and global
            warming.
              While this may be a hard idea to sell to americans who want everything they want, I'm sure that
            if enough positive attributes of the plan, are presented it could be sold, such as that it will open
            up boundless new frontiers from the pressure of the increased cost of gas to turn to alternative
            fuel sources, for new technologies of cars, electric and hydrogen, it could be just the thing to
            stimulate the economy that we need , turning the coin from gas being cheaper and faster ,to
            alternative having proper research money and investments to develop and become not only
            competitive, but actually the cheaper alternative to gas, with the money from gas taxes, electric
            cars could become what gas cars are today, fast, but also green.
              It is the foot in the door of American technological leadership, the capitalist break that brings america up to date with the sustainabilty.
