Permanantly Close Off New Zealands Kermadec Shelf To Mining Applications

  • by: PROS-NZ

The goal of this petition is to prevent mining and fishing companys destroying this underwater heritage site and permanantly close off mining to the whole Kermadec Shelf protected by the 'Marine Reserve' Status.

The Kermadec's are teeming with birds and mammals found nowhere else on earth, and the seas surrounding them are abundant with fish, some not yet known to science. Galapagos Reef Sharks and many other endangered Shark species are known to call these waters home. And to top it all off these islands are a migatory route for Humpback Whales, Tuna, Marlin and the largest remaining population of Spotted Black Groper in the world also call this untouched paradise home.

Please sign my petition and lets stop the mining of important pristine eco-systems that by rights should be left just the way we found them when our decendants take our place on Mother Earth.

We the undersigned,

Oppose the mining of the Kermadec Shelves, and the exploration of the Kermadecs for mining potential, we believe that the importance of this area to the global eco-system, is much more important than ruining a safge haven for endangered and undiscovered species, for potential profit. In a world that is nearly totally destroyed by because of human apathy, areas such as the Kermadec must be left untouched and preserved for future generations, and for the conservation of life on earth.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and hope you will take this into consideration when making your decision.

Regards.

PROS-NZ Team.
