Petition Ethanol in gas, E-10 - E-85

Target:
gas, ethanol, e-10, e-20, e-85

Ethanol in gas causes problems in old and new cars. The Picture to your left is from exhaust when runing my car with ethanol fuel, not lowering co2!

Hello.

- I am writing on the new gas E-10  ethanol being used now that will be mandate for 2010,  Its 10% Ethanol, and 90% Gasoline. their are some older cars and new one's that cant run on a 10% Ethanol blend,   there is a push for 15% from the Ethanol Industry. -March.2 2009-

- Ethanol came out to lower Co2, and be dependent on oil, however it uses more fuel then gasoline, poof in lower MPG. in turn we are using more fuel and increasing co2 output,

  the safety of your car.

- Ethanol is destructive to rubber parts and plastic's, metal's,  and fiberglass parts over time, in new cars as well as older cars.
- Ethanol in older cars can dissolve resins that create a black sludge that coats and travels through the engine, causing engine stalling and complications, including clogged fuel filters, carburetor jets and injectors, can clog catalytic converters, mufflers with a black soot can be seen on tail pipes.

Thank you.

Problem already known by companies, that ethanol can cause engine or fuel damage.

-Ethanol, E-85 has less energy per gallon than gasoline, so you'll need to refill your fuel tank more often when using Ethanol E-85, Also To Use Regular Gasoline when pulling a trailer not to exceed 1000 Lbs, and If you have the 2200 L4 (Code 4) Engine to use only regular gasoline. and If you have the 2200 L4 (code 5) Engine you may use ethanol up to E-85.

1993 Nissan Altima hand book states, (My car stalls on Ethanol).

-Nissan does not recommend the use of fuels of which the oxygenate content and the fuel compatibility for your Nissan cannot be readily determined.

-If you use oxygenate-blend gasoline, please take the following precautions as the usage of such fuels may cause vehicle performance problems, and/or fuel system damage.

-If any undesirable driveability problems such as engine stalling and difficult hot-starting are experienced after useing oxygenate-blend fuels, Immediately change to a non-blend of regular gasoline.

1986 XJ6 Jaguar, this car also stalls using Ethanol blend gas.

-States in in its hand bood that you can use up to 10% Ethanol mixture, and if you have or notice driveability problems to switch back to regular gasoline,

I'm a mechanic. I've seen the damage 10% ethanol can do to an engine. Most people don't notice any performance difference and think they're okay in using it. However.....it attacks the rubber vacuum hoses causing them to become very soft and mushy. In time they collapse causing the computer controlling engine timing to go outside normal operation. Eventually causing major engine failures such as broken timing belts, bent valves, broken pistons. Did anyone notice how much gas prices have dropped in the last 3 - 4 months? Even the stations without Ethanol. The biggest culprit to our recession was the increase in gas prices, which was all political. This opened up the door to everyone to raise their prices for all commodities even if they weren't affected. I was told by a Shell station owner that all gas stations in northern Nevada have 10% ethanol. Maybe these Nevada politicians can afford a new engine every one to three years, but I can't.

Not giving Floridians the choice in what goes into their gas tanks is criminal. Ethanol is not the answer for emissions or for reducing costs at the pump, especially at the expense of lower MPG and possible damage to engines. Remind me again what the positives are?

Adding this to gas was an ill-thought out knee jerk reaction by the government that should be abolished. There are many other viable alternatives that will not cause this much impact to the end consumers

I do a lot of yard work on my properties with small gas engines--mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws. To date three fuel systems have been replaced due to rubber/vinyl parts dissolving. In addition my 2004 Hyundai hesitates under acceleration during cold temperatures. Sunoco is AT LEAST 15% ethanol. Changed gas supplier.

Its time for a voter revolution. These jerks are allowing the use of ethanol against the voters will. It produces terrible fuel mileage not to mention damage to fuel systems from rust. I thought this country was trying to save energy. Ethanol kills fuel mileage.. If the politicians in Washington and in your state will not listen, Then vote them out of office. They are in office to serve us, THE PEOPLE. not the other way around.

We need to get this information to more people and the media to educate them so that more people will stand up to get this changed. Everyone I personally is having the same problems!

I used to be able to drive 200 miles on a 1/2 tank of gas in my Dodge Dakota. Now that ethanol is blended into our gas I only get 160 miles to a 1/2 tank!!! Every mechanic I talked to said it's the ethanol!

Having many issues with E-10 fuel. In boats it attracts water and in my older car it caused the fuel pump to go out.

Ethanol is not very well thought out. It is devestating our food supply and driving up food prices. I also don't understand taking expensive gasoline and cutting it down with a substance that reduces its mileage. Cars are being trashed by this crap. So much for the feel-good environmental hit. It's a failure, end it now!
